Supplements the debate/discussion thread

I find Jack3d really good. I've had to start cycling SP250 and Jack3d as I get used to it a bit quickly.

As for the taste bashing, come on leave it out. I've done the whole unflavoured whey, a few scoops of nesquick and chug it down routine. Not only did I get very bored of it very quickly but it actually used to make me vomit. Now for me that is a waste of money. We are probably in different circumstances, financial situations, etc. Luckily I can afford to spend the extra on what I consider better tasting protein, probably the same reason I shop at M&S or Waitrose. I'm not no toff, I just like to taste and enjoy what I put in my mouth, be that food, whey protein or women :p But seriously each to their own. I fully support the guys that get best value for money or those who prefer to spend the extra, theres no right or wrong answer.

bad tasting whey makes me vomit too, as does bad tasting food. when i go out for a meal, i do not pick the cheapest thing on the menu, i pick whatever i want to eat.

Thinking of getting some protein now, is this any good http://www.discount-supplements.co....hey-protein-nutrisport-90-whey-protein-0-91kg

Only £12 with free delivery and a shaker, size 0.91kg, compared to myprotein £19.44 with delivery for 1kg, is myprotien really worth £7 more for 90 grams extra.

Taste I am not bothered about.

that looks fine, but do remember its only 18 servings.

if thats fine for you then go ahead, but its not going to last very long if your wanting to pack on muscle and your training hard.

Of course we all like things that taste nice but when it come to whey I don't take it to enjoy myself I take it for a reason, its more like taking medicine.

Plus it only takes like 10 seconds or less to drink so it's not like I am going to be savouring it.

Anyway I didn't mean to get you all annoyed at me so sorry about that, it's just my opinion. :(

Very very true!

I made the mistake once of buy a 1kg tub for 20euro.
Had about 18-20 servings, it might sound like a lot sometimes, but if your training hard and with good intensity you'll need a lot more then that.

Specially if you've a super busy day when getting a proper meal in is hard, even more so if you have to deal with clients and customers and can't snack on delicious tinned fishies!

That's where a quick scoop of whey comes in handy.

Well My protein is only 20 servings

I dont want to buy 5kg because I dont know how my body will react to it or how I will.

Do you eat meat or dairy products?

If so, it'll react like it always did. It's just protein.
Now you might react differently to the flavours, I for one hate any form of strawberry supplements.

I prefer chocolate or unflavoured.

Sonny, do you find that Myofusion's Choc Peanubutter flavour tends to stick to the bottom of the shaker and no amount of violent shaking loosens it?

Turn the shaker upside-down and shake with two hands like shaking a cocktail.

That always works for me when I used Myofusion or Casein powders.

You dont put the powder in first do you?

that will be the problem

With regard to people spending more money on fancy tasting supplements, surely the extra money would be better spent on actual FOOD, no? Supplements are there to be a cheap source of whatever you're lacking in or can't afford to get from real food, not to be a tasty snack in substitution of real food with a much higher nutritional value.

I do, but it's a first for me in the powder getting stuck. Had Syntha-6 last night and CNP Pro-Peptide this morning, both in the shaker for at least 3 hours (take it to work) and a few quick shakes and it's mixed up well.

Anyway, will put the milk/water in first with Myofusion then.

It feels like we discuss this at least twice a week now. I'm sure the majority of the people here use them for what they're intended, supplementation with only a small group of misguided few trying to replace powders for real food. I'm guilty of buying fancy and expensive supplement sometimes, but days can go by where I don't need to take any as my food intake is high enough without the need of having to resort to protein powders. Some days I can't eat a lot as I'm run of my feet at work and find whey to be a handy option to get some nutrients in. I'm sure that's the case here for a lot people too.

dont have that problem, but i put like 250 ml of milk in first, then myofusion then another 250ml of milk.

i also use a blender ball shaker. its a lot better than the sieve version i find.

another way of doing it would be putting less powder in and shaking then adding more powder as need be. i find the more powder you put in the more chance of it clumping.

also i tend to shake extremely hard, i mean physically jumping up and down hard.

i use shakes for example when there is no food that will do the same job.

for example before i go to sleep and as soon as i wake up. if i was to eat food before sleeping (i would gain a lot of fat) and if i was to try and cook up a high protein meal first thing in the morning, it would be time comsuming, whereas a quick shake gives me what i need quickly.

i eat food throughout the day and i use shakes, post workout, before bed and as soon as i wake up.

i do not substitute a shake for a meal.

also i spend the extra money for the taste, its hardly a lot of money either. i have 2 jackets worth £300 each, a gym worth £10K, etc. to me spending £30 a month on protein shakes is nothing. i easily spend £30 on a meal when eating out (1 meal for myself) so £30 for a months worth of shakes is nothing.

Liquid first definitely cures this :)
