How long does it take you to do a complete build?

Just wondering how long it takes people to do a complete build of a new system. From when DPD drop off the parts at the front door to your plugging in the mouse and keyboard.

I'm not taking into consideration the OS installation. Just the physical hardware.

Here's the imaginary parts.

2500k
P67 mobo
titan fenrir evo cooler
two ram modules
modular PSU
cm690II case
two hard drives
one wifi card
one 6970 gpu

Taking cable management into consideration and not just throwing it together.

How long did/would it take you. I always seem to take forever when doing mine. I do tend to faff around, playing with stickers, reading manuals and trying all sorts of routes for cables to get optimum airflow and slickness.

So lets here the times.
 
Depends on how tidy I want it. If I want it "neat", but not hidden cabling, then I can build (as in booting to the OS) in about 2 hours.

My previous build (which meant I had no cable management to do for my current spec, as I just dropped the new Mobo, CPU, and GPU in) took me about 8 hours, but the cabling was a nightmare.

i would say assembly can easily be done within 30-45mins if your not fussy about tidyness and whether you got a decent case and psu that is easy to fit and wire up.

That's got to be some of the best cable management I've ever seen? What case is it? Did you have to buy extension leads? Modular PSU?

There are no extensions to ATX or 8-Pin 12v, however there are a number of molex to SATA adapters behind the motherboard tray that provide the length needed to power the 6 HDDs and 2 ODDs. It is a modular Antec PSU.

It's in the case in my sig (along with link to the build thread), a Lian-Li PC-A71F.
 
About 45 mins for an unfussy one, but as far as cable management is concerned then forever as I just cant seem to get to a stage where I'm happy with it. Looks like I need to borrow Paradigm to end my misery :)
 
im one of those people that dont care what it looks like , and have wires all over the place

so a build is normally up and running within 45 mins too

Very impressed! I also use the molex to sata adapters for the length. Literally jammed in behind my side panel. Housed in a CM690II, with 3 HDD, 2 SSD's, one ODD and a tonne of other stuff. It gets a little crammed. Suppose the really big cases shine when it comes to cable management along with a quality PSU with long atx cables.
 
I'll tell you whenever my new Power supply turns up. Got everything I need it's just the PSU and I'm sorted. IIRC it took me about 3 hours to transfer my motherboard/CPU/RAM/HDD/DVD drive to a new case, install a H50 and cable manage it to a standard I deem acceptable a few weeks ago.

I used to be like that. Throw it together and who cares. However it really does hamper with my temps when overclocking. I've knocked off 10°c before going from crazy spaghetti junction to proper routing of cables. If it's an old system, not being overclocked and doesn't have a see through panel then who cares about cables :D
 
1-1.5hrs depending on the amount of parts and the heatsink fitment involved and that includes wiring thats perfectly acceptable.

Example work there paradigm. :)

I've spaced out SATA cables like that, can be tricky getting the right distances and orientation between each connector.

Any thing from a few hours for many PCs. I like to take my time on my own though although watercooling does add on a few hours or so.
 
I really need to stop playing with stickers and manuals. I'm doing one in the next day or two for my friends. The gear just arrived 10 minutes ago.

i dont even bother putting the side of the case back on
 
Still weighing up the possibility of braiding my cables on the new build, if I do, that'll add on a few hours at least.
 
if i don't have to strip bits out of an existing case, about an hour and thats with tidying cables away.

depends on the case tbh, ones with mobo trays save lots of hassle, ones with hdd cages you can slide a hdd into also save time.

i'm currently running onto 36 hours atm, as DPD have messed up for the 2nd time in 2 days so i'm motherboard-less till at least tomorrow when they attempt again!
