I recently bought this...

And wanted to get a couple new hdd to go in it. The drives i'm using atm are @ least 5 years old and i'm running in RAID 0. But watching Windows load is much like watching paint dry, just not as exciting. :p

Anyway, enough of the waffling.

I have been looking at the following
HD-372-WD and getting two of these, or just the one of these

My mobo's only got 3GBs SATA connectors, so i'm not sure which would be better. If you think that neither of these would be any good, could you please advise?

TIA

It's the volume of the SSD that's concerning me more than the speed. I want SSD, they just scare me atm, as they can be quite fickled, lol!

Volume? They are completely silent :p.

Get the SSD. Unless you need more than 120Gb of storage (And you can just use your old drives) its a waste otherwise!

You crack me up, lol!

I wanted to put just Windows and Steam on it, but my steam files currently stand at around 250GB, but only play a handful the thing is it's increasing constantly and feel 120 might not do. But then it wasn't that long ago I though my old maxtor 80gig was more than enough, lol.

But yeah, I personaly think I will get the SSD, was just wondering if enough normal hdd in raid could give you almost the same speed?

I'd say go for the SSD. Don't get me wrong, HDD in Raid 0 can be fast especially when short stroked. Although the difference on boot times, loading times in games and system responsiveness with the recent SSD's is like night and day.

Use symlinks, and place your steamapps folder on another drive and link to it.

That's what I've done, with Steam installed on my SSD. Works a treat ;)
