Red Faction Armageddon-10th June on PC

Play.com?

Nah, shopto. Not sure if competitor though so can a mod change this if so? I preordered on the 7th in the morning when the cutoff for fridays delivery was the 8th at midnight or something daft like that, so pretty annoying that it gets dispatched on the day its meant to be delivered on lol.

That's unlucky!

I ordered Pokemon Black from them recently and got it very swift. Very unlucky I believe. Either that or they didn't get their batch from their suppliers quick enough unfortunately.

Aye looks like thats probably the case, although I've not been credited with that £3 store credit deal they do yet either. Because I've not ordered from them before, I don't know how their system works compared to other etailers in regards to when they send out emails confirming orders etc. I got my confirmation email this morning at 9:01am and then the dispatch one 1 hour later today :S

Well the posty just turned up and no sign of my order so its probably gonna turn up on monday (doubt it'll show up tomorrow) -.-

bought from play, dispatched, 3 days later still not god. i have the house to myself all weekend and nothing to do :(

Just rang the customer services and they told me that it was a courier problem and that due to that, I won't be getting the £3 store credit preorder guarantee because it was late either. No exactly my fault as a customer is it and I'm only going on what I read on their website.

Won't be using them again, *******

I'm kinda skeptical about this game after the reviews and videos that I have seen, it seems kind of cramped compared to guerrilla. I liked the open exploration they had before and the amount of wanton destruction you could inflict on the surrounding environment.

I may get it if I see/hear good things about it in a few days.

hang on you slam pcgamer for giving an 80% to duke

http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/06/10/duke-nukem-forever-review/

80% which I think is about 40% too much must have had a lot of advertising revenue riding on this from 2K

yet then pcgamer is all good and well when they give 84% to this?

It rare in 2011 PC Gamers have something which is taking advantage of their modern hardware.
Controls are very easy as well. 360 gamepad is best

I lol'd

Right my copy just turned up and im installing now. Got the command and recon edition with the hologram front which looks rather good. However I did notice something weird on the back of the box, namely in large text... "NOT FOR SUPPLY IN THE UK" :S

I also got an early access code for the new saints row 3 game inside the box :O

Gotta say that review doesn't come even close to an 84%...

It sounds very meh.

Just spent the last 2 hours on it and I have to say, its very good! Feels like a weird mix between deadspace, mass effect and metro 2033.

Reminds me of deadspace because a lot of the environments your in are pretty much pitch black and the aliens often come out of the walls with little or no notice. The mass effect part is mostly the fighting with others at some points plus the upgrade system (which on RFA is extensive). Finally how the community is set up kinda reminds me of metro 2033. Its quite easy to run out of ammo in most of your weapons a few times per level and have to really start looking around for it.

After playing it for just over 2 hours straight I've encountered no bugs or problems with it at all. Highly recommend it :)

The question is, would I buy it and think 'Its good but its not what I paid for' or would I buy it and think 'This is what a Red Faction game should be like'.

Going by that review and some comments it definitely seems like the former. It could've been better by the sound of it and because of that I see no reason to buy it on release.

Its the later. The game has some linear parts and then some multisectioned ones where you can decide how you want to get to an objective. Its a vastly better game than guerilla and easily worth the £25.

been playing it for awhile now, the graphics are not outstanding but the game is good generally, its very similar to RFG which is good.

Okay, having played a decent amount of it, its very similar to RFG? RFG is almost completely in an open area, the missions aren't linear, you can do whatever you want, whenever you want, you drive, or get in a tank or whatever else again whenever you want.

This is a VERY linear game, not open world at all(so far, I have no clue how long it is, but must have played 4-5 hours I'd think), you do what the story says, its mostly corridoor style fps, and realistically the main two weapons from RFG, being the remote bombs and the hammer, are for all intents and purposes not in the game.

Unless it opens up in the next couple hours then has 20+hours of RFG like open world action I'd say calling them similar is nuts. Different gameplay, different style, different world, different pacing, different locations, different weapons, different enemies, main character has the same last name is about all thats the same.

its good, its completely different but its fairly good, a bit TOO easy with a weapon thats a bit to ridiculously overpowered.

I'd completely overlooked the release of this, saw a gameplay video a while back and I did fear it was going to be a linear game unlike RFG. It was the open area gameplay of RFG that I loved, but now, like so many other games, developers take a working concept and change it which often results in a game the fans wernt hoping for.

Thinking about getting this. Is it similar to Red Faction 1 and 2 or more like Gurilla? Really enjoyed all 3 especially gurilla due to the free roam and generally being able to mess around no end.

I know its a long shot but didn't you think to perhaps, read the thread? Its only 2 pages long and the post 2 above yours says pretty much everything you needed to hear.

It begins with a Guerilla feel to it before becoming essentially a generic third person FPS that doesn't offer any free roaming and loses the fun of the destruction mechanic.
