Its not like this is the first shooter where seeing body parts was possible (and yes nobodys saying that). Even as far back as Allied Assault, that initially had the camera mounted to the body so you could see your feet etc, but they changed it several months prior to release because of clipping issues. Crysis, Crysis 2, hells highway im pretty sure you could see body parts when jumping over objects. Even FEAR had it to an extent. its not really a new feature, just one that got very limited use for some reason.

ROFL.. just seen the vault legs animation.. looks daft. A soldier would NOT do that.

Also.. the gameplay really did seem much more 'action' than it has in previous versions. I'm really hoping for the enjoyable tactical/action mix that CoD doesn't offer. I really enjoed CoD4 but haven't played any of the other's, but it often turned into a spam fest. The main complaint I had about it was although it was more twitch gaming.. since it's based on real life weapons it really should take less to kill someone.

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but do we yet know if there is blood / gore in this game? I wish shooters would provide more realistic results, e.g. you hit someone with an RPG and they're completely intact afterwards. I suppose they've got to get past the censors  but it would be nice to at least have blood spatter etc.

it's not censors it's just it wouldn't really make sense that they get shot 3 times and only splash a little blood then the 4th fatal shot and a huge chunk of them flies off.

plus it adds mroe load to the server and the users machine.

Blood does spray out of them, just doesn't stay because with this many people and the respawning (un like say css) you'd either have constant blood decals vanishing ruining immersion or the whole map would be painted red.

What do peeps think of the leg animation when vaulting over obstacles?

erm doesnt seem what you would do in the bf for real but it isnt real is it so if it works in game well and action is thick and fast then im not too bothered by it myself.

those who love the uber realness of warfare will probably go up in arms about it.

it is from mirrors edge as is the dying animation.

surprised they haven't added the run up walls or forward barrel roll :D

Animation would work well for mirror's edge stuff.. but they really need to sort the vaulting out. It's sucks, and does not fit in with how a soldier moves. What the hell were they thinking? They are not bloody free-runners - they carry weapons, ammo, back packs helmet... all adding weight. They would fall on their arse or break legs/ankles doing that.. it's just plain ridiculous to show the legs thrusting outwards like that. Better not to show the animation at all OR just show the tops of the legs lifting.

Ive read a few previews of this and Im liking what I hear!
Snipers now have to hold their breath to get an accurate long range shot in! woop :)

Also it seems that tanks/troop transports get knocked out before they expode.

So say you have a full APC storming towards the objective, it gets damaged to the point at which it gets knocked out, the rocket that knocks it out may kill the person its closest too (driver/gunner/passenger) but it will not yet explode, giving the remaining crew/passengers time to bail out, or in the case of the gunner carry on shooting (but the vechicle is unable to move) obviously if it gets hit again its gets blown up, but engineers have time to bring it back.

In regards to these whines about the vaulting animation, sure you could make it slow and labourious, but who wants that?

No one wants to loose control of their player for 5 sec while they vault over a wall, much better to make it a quick 1-2 sec vault that while, not being particularly true to life, serves the purpose of looking good (seeing all the body helps with immersion imho) and not taking too much time to action.

you mean the people that sprint non stop for 30 minutes jump madly while firing a heavy machine gun. regularly jump off buildings AND PULL A BLOODY PARACHUTE OUT OF THEIR ARSE ONLY 4 METERS OFF THE FLOOR yet no it's the vaulting that you find unrealistic?

I couldn't give a toss about the legs, i'm playing the game to shoot people, not look at my legs.

Pretty much this.

Also, who actually cares if you can jump and vault with all your gear/weapons? This game was never meant to be super realistic. I think the animations look decent though.

Where's my third leg gone ?

Doesn't bother me.

Not knocking it. :)

About time they adding that type of animation adds more realism IMO .

Looking forward to being owned by Tefal! :D
