As above really - I know a lot of people who want to get it via Steam.

I can't really turn my nose up at £10 off the game price with the Game pre-order. Does anyone know if I can add it to Steam as a "non-steam game" and still use steam chat etc whilst in-game?

Possibly. A mate plays BC2 as a non-Steam game and his overlay works fine.

Thanks for the replies - I'll look in to it a bit more before buying but if the Steam Overlay won't work well whilst in-game I'll have to pass on the Game version.

The steam overlay works fine, just add the game to steam and it works exactly the same as if you had bought it on steam.

I am running BC2 retail with a steam shortcut and can confirm. I don't see why it would be any different in BF3, as this works every game I have tried.

Why are people crying about "Pre orders" and the few perks you get with them ?

It's just a way of saying "Thank you" for having faith in us. It happens everywhere.

MOANERS !!!

because game has threatened to drop games that have digital distribution.

so this satisfies them.

GAME needs to **** off.

They're ****ting their pants because soon their crappy little shops will become irrelevant and they will go bust.

It's cheaper to pre order than to buy it at launch too

what's that got to do with anything it's cheaper to wait till after launch too.

But this is a game we're going to be playing for years to have some people with an unfair advantage for all that time i n an mp game is unbalancing.

What is an unfair advantage? Unless I read what is going on wrong, people who pay more or from certain shops or something get access to 'different' weapons, not better, just different.

Yeh, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't unbalance the game. Everyone needs to chill I think :)

People are divided. Some folk are angry because they think there'll be an advantage if you get the pre-order pack. Other folk are angry at the principle of pre-order exclusive DLC, fearing the taking on of the trend.

For me it's more of a 'don't let things go this way' argument. I'm not bothered about some suppressor.

The only thing I have against these weapons (if they are balanced, as EA have said they would be) is that just like TF2 some people enjoy collecting everything, and its not nice to limit people from getting certain stuff either by limited time only or worse having a stupid random luck condition as well as a limited ammount items available or time.

If you think about it in BF2 there was lots of different weapons of all types, and using one over the other for the most part made little difference on gameplay.

I like how EA give you something totally immaterial for pre-ordering. Whereas as any decent developer might offer you something tangible, like some artwork or a book or whatever.

The fact they would rather screw with the core gameplay than give something back to the fans is pretty shameful.

I like how other developers make a console game with console ui and gameplay and toss it over to the pc platform for good measures.

The fact that they screw and dumb down the gameplay, UI etc etc to the fans is pretty shameful

You're not talking about BF3 though, are you. We all know that BF3 is being made for the PC primarily. As EA stated ages ago. Note that all the demo footage is it running on PC, not on an Xbox.
