What does this mean?
I had the amp and subwoofer running for about 3 days then it just cuts off and goes into protected mode?
Dont understand what i have done...
Any suggestions are grateful thanks sam

Think it means it needs grounding? or is overheating.
Cheers i do believe i grounded it properly, drilled a whole sanded the paint to bare metal and bolted it down.
It was working for 3 days so i guess i did it correctly
If it was overheating would it start working again once it has cooled down as i have left it for a while yet it still hasn't come off protected mode
Thanks sam

Its not an alpine its a cheap amp, not sure off the make amp-480 it says on the front?
Probably the amp tbh what do i expect paying so little for it lmao, just hope it hasnt blown my sub:(

It's prob overheating. Have you touched the amp when it cuts out to see if it's hot?

Try turning the amp down a little?

but it hasnt just cut out, its stopped working and left it over night and its still not working, If it was overheating surely it would have cooled down and been okay to atleast work in the morning for a few hours before overheating again?
Not sure am a noob with this
Probably just my crap wiring?

If you think the wiring is crap, then yes.

Check your earth :)

I'm pretty sure I did this correctly, it was the thing I tried to get like perfect..
I drilled a hole sanded the area till bare metal and then bolted and had a washer on top of it just to hold it in place. It was a metal washer
That is okay?

The fact that it has gone into protect mode has probably saved your sub.

Is the amp purple?

First thing I'd try is removing any speaker wiring / RCA connections etc and just leave power, remote and earth leads connected. Try turning it on then to see if its a problem with any of the leads you disconnected. If it runs ok then, reconnect rca / speaker cables one at a time to see which is the issue.

ah ok, well as one has said remove everything bar the basic to get the amp powered and see if it comes on.

is it from a shop or the internet?

is it not possible to just take the amp back and try it at the shop?

I will try remove everything par the power, remote and ground and see what happens
It was brought second hand from a bootsale... :/ bit silly but i didnt want to spend too much money.. aha

Oh and also i decided to remove the power for the amp from the battery to stop it coming on while its driving while its in protected mode.
Turned the car over the amp still came on and the protected mode LED was off and power LED was on though obviously because the remote wire was still plugged in?
Does this help to discover the problem?

Thought it wouldnt even start up if there is no power cable connected?
Or was it taking the power from the head unit

Yeh good ;)
And yes the amp is purple

Ahh, I'm guessing you have an infamous 'purple mosfet' amp, looks a little like this yes?

I've had a few of these over the years, they're pretty cheap and nasty and they don't like being bridged, were you running it in bridged mode at all?
