one for my fellow BBC haters

Well for starters that's not true, the sun is overdue for some pretty excessive sunspot activity. That may be the cause of a whole host of new problems, but it's got little to go with climate change.

But then, why should i bother with you, kwerk?

The Sun has little to do with the Climate?

Are you quite sure.

That would depend what you define as the Thames, I'm sure you could skate on some stagnant off-shoot that freezes over or way upstream where it is smaller but the main body of water is far less likely to freeze than it was in the 1800s as it's much faster flowing now than it was back then, so far less likely to freeze :p

Which both the scientists in question and the less sensationalist of the media outlets you quoted have said won't happen. Did you not read your own links or did you just hope nobody else would?

What it does indicate is that we know so little about the mechanisms and cycles of the Earth's climate that we can't be sure of anything and that the emphasis on CO2 is largely a waste of time as there are other far more important and pressing issues facing Global populations such as Overpopulation and Ecology destruction.

All this really amounts to is the latest in humanities End of The World Scenarios, and in a few decades when much of what the AGW adherents doesn't come to pass or turns out to be natural process that we have little control over they will move on to the next improbable scenario to glean taxpayers money to fund their research and living standards for.

For heaven sake, when it comes to Solar activity contributing to Climate Change even the Climate Scientists cannot agree, each pushing their own specific research as being the most important.

Want to put some money on that?

I would. The thames is a lot more free flowing than in the 'little ice age' a few hundred years ago.

One of the old bridges used to restrict the flow which made it easier to freeze over. Now sin ce that bridge waa removed it is not very likely to happen at all, even if we get very very cold

Always worth reminding people that Fox specifically won a legal case to state that their news is protected free speech and as such doesn't have to be technically true.
I remember hearing about that, pretty shocking and more than a little misleading considering the channel has 'news' in it's title.

It froze in 1963 just fine afaik

Hmm, does this mean the government are going to reduce fuel duty and raise road tax on small efficient hatch backs?
