Supplements the debate/discussion thread

By the way did anyone order from bodybuilding.com? if yes then when did you get the customs/import tax?
I received my order a month ago, bu there was no extra charge or letter in the post that said I need to pay import tax. Did I get away without it? :D

I didn't get any charge. If you have to pay anything they keep the package till you pay.

I have a question for you gym jockeys :D

I'll soon be running out of Myprotein Whey Concentrate, do you guys recommend the isolate? I can see it has a higher protein content per gram, so you're getting less carbs and fat than you do with concentrate, however is it really worth the extra money?

I've also heard that it doesn't mix particularly well, have you found that to be true? The concentrate I have at the moment mixes really, really easily. It could be slightly harder to mix and I can't say I'd really mind, but if it's properly noticeable then it could be a deal breaker :p

Isolate is only really needed if you're cutting right down on carbs and using a lot of shakes or if you have a lactose intolerance, if neither is true then stick with the concentrate simply because it's a fair bit cheaper.

Just before I make another order on the Impact Whey, is there any reason why I shouldn't go for Total Protein instead? It has a 1% less protein, however it is a combination of different protein sources. It includes flax seed and glutamine.

The Total Protein costs about 20% less than the Impact Whey as well! The only downside I can think of is that it has will absorb slower/differently and only comes in 1800g packages :(

its delivered by UPS is it not?

i have gotten 3 packages from there and every time i have been charged customs, it usually comes a month later by letter.

UPS pays the customs charges for you, you then have to pay them, plus an admin fee.

also depends on the value of the goods shipped if its under like £25, they usually dont bother charging anything.

i would go for total protein then personally, just read up on the different supplements and make sure you know exactly what it is your buying and what it does.

flax seed and glutamine are both very important.

Ok so I have been using myprotein for 7 years now and have not ordered from anywhere else before now.

I just got my order from myprotein a couple of days ago and wow the protein is revolting. I rung them up and they have changed supplier recently and will be sticking with them. For 7 years the protein has remained the same but now it really has a nasty taste imo.

So can anyone recommend me some UNFLAVOURED Whey protein, I would be very grateful.

bulkpowders or ironscience are the names usually thrown about, i only buy myofusion but that is branded and flavoured so i dont know which of those 2 is better but they are the other 2 top non branded companies out there.

bodybuilding warehouse also do a great selection of non branded and branded supplements, i know someone who chose them over myprotein, tbh there are so many companies out there, the market is getting really saturated, if taste is important to you, i would stick with branded and myofusion tbh.

Thank you for your suggestions guys. The reason I stick with unflavoured is because I get bad stomach on anything with added flavours etc

I have just ordered samples from both of those :)

I did get a package delivered by UPS half a year before and it happened like that, I couldn't pick it up without paying the import tax first.

The bodybuilding.com order was delivered via DHL though, it was about 50 quid iirc, and there was no letter or additional charge even though it's been more than a month.

Myprotein deal today: 20% off TrueWhey! Brings it to £26 for a tub. They also offer free shipping over £50, so buy 2 tubs of epic whey delivered for £52!

It used to be 32.50 a tub with £4 delivered = £69.

If you need to use a code: MP125213 :D :D (another 5% off your total!)
