What will come of all the hacking ?

DDOS attack on SOCA now, wow the are making some powerful friends.

The UK Serious Organised Crime agency has taken its website offline after it appeared to be a victim of an attack by hacking group Lulz Security.

Soca said it had taken its website offline to limit the impact attack on clients hosted by its service provider.

Soca.gov.uk had been unavailable for much of Monday afternoon, with an intermittent service restored later.

Lulz Security has said it was behind the denial of service attack which had taken the website offline.

Earlier on Monday, as the agency launched an investigation, LulzSec tweeted: "Tango down - in the name of #AntiSec".

its the government doing it and they will bring in draconian laws to 'protect' us from the threat ( it will also lock down the net and stop us talking/videoing all the **** that is going to hit the fan in the next few years when our way of life crumbles.)

Most if it isn't really hacking per se, lots of DDOS attacks on various websites with a little bit of hacking now and again. If it is true that they have now done the same to the CIA website then i think they may have just moved from "Irritant" to "Let's do something about this" status.

The cia.gov website isn't even linked to the cia systems, so "hacking it" was abit retarded and pointless, don't you think?

As for the "for the good of all" comment, what a load of garbage, seriously. They are just ****'s with nothing better to do than intentionally bring misery to normal everyday people.

Wow, if this is true....bad times.com!

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/06/21/uk_census_lost/

The UK's Office and National Statistics and Lockheed Martin are racing to check whether hacker group LulzSec had gotten its hands on this year's census data.

Such a massive data loss would be embarrassing even for a government with such an amazing record of data protection failures.

LulzSec's Twitter page has no mention of the supposed hack, but a message on PasteBin - which is open to anyone - suggests they have obtained the records.

The message said:

Greetings Internets,

We have blissfully obtained records of every single citizen who gave their records to the security-illiterate UK government for the 2011 census We're keeping them under lock and key though... so don't worry about your privacy (...until we finish re-formatting them for release)

It then warns that the database will be put on the Pirate Bay once the re-formatting has been finished.

A 19-year-old suspected of being a mastermind behind notorious international computer hacking group LulzSec has been arrested in Essex, after a joint operation by the FBI and Scotland Yard.

Breaking on sky

What does it mean reformatting the database?

I was reading a few days ago that they were based in Iran (or had Iranian Backing), I thought it was absurd at the time but I'm starting to think there might be truth in it.

They only go after Western Governments and Corporations, and then this
