An Independent Scotland?

because if scotland leaves the UK they more than likely wont belong to scotland.

go do some research on the north sea

Most of the oil and natural gas resources that the UK state earns money off are privately owned. The oil doesn't belong to the UK, never mind Scotland. It belongs to the private companies that own it (e.g. BP, Shell, Fairfield Energy, Oilexco, Apache, Talisman Energy etc.). Our revenue from the oil industry comes from taxation, and the majority of our oil and natural gas industry is based in Aberdeen, followed by the Shetland Islands. How would you propose the UK government would tax an industry based in a foreign country? Or would you seek to split the UK's oil industry and move part of it south? How much would that cost? Tens of billions, if not more, I suspect.

Scotland is best at something .....

Scotland tops world cocaine use

Scotland has again been placed at the top of the world league for cocaine consumption.

Figures published by the United Nations show that 3.9% of Scottish residents aged between 16 and 64 used the drug in the past year.

That was a higher proportion than in any other country and compares to 2.5% for England and Wales.

The figures also showed Scotland with a rate of heroin use twice that of the rest of the United Kingdom.

Let's go down this road then:

Oh look it's possible to make one country look better than the other by using a narrow selection of data. What a shocker! If I thought that the Engurland brigade on this forum was a true representation of the cuntry as a whole it would almost make me vote for independence. Thankfully it's not and I hope Scotland rejects independence and we remain a part of the UK.

Somehow I'm no longer shocked at anti-scotland threads on OCUK which are no longer being locked and obvious trolls not being punished by mods. These threads appear to be getting more common.

It's amazing how English asume Scotland is in debt, and just the other week I pointed out that wages north of the border are in fact a lot higher than in a lot of areas of England. And in fact we have a much higher quality of living than most places in England. I don't know what is worse. The perception of English that Scotland hate them and are bitter towards them or, that Scotland is a poor country that needs subsidies to fuel the alcoholic 12year old junkie with a baby epidemic!

If the posts were actually moderated as strictly as other racism was then the bans would be coming thick and fast. A lot of it is just banter which is fine but some is just idiotic bile.

Heres one for consideration, rebuild Hadrians Wall! Keep those annoying stuck up Southies in there place while we all go get drunk and have fun :p

A Geordie friend of mine was worried about doing a stag trip of Scots in Prague. I told him not to worry. Scots and Geordies get along just fine. :D The problem does seem to be with Southern England and the rest of the UK, never mind Scotland.

I love it when Geordies and Scots are having a conversation, we understand each other just fine while everyone else sits thinking we are just talking drunken drivel.
