That's the best thing about it, the dude doesn't even put the phone down or stop his conversation mid way through the punch. Takes a lot of confidence to throw a punch like that knowing full well what its going to do.

My insurance company finally pulled their finger out today and authorised the repairer to go ahead with the work. The car goes in on Monday 4th July. Nothing about this whole process went as quickly as I would have liked but at least the end is in sight now.

Out of curiosity, are you still using it? & given the wheels have taken a whack, any sign of suspension problems?

I can imagine something like an M5's suspension not liking a hard side-on whack....

Yeah, I'm still using it, although I am limiting the use to essential journeys only, but that's more to do with embarrassment than anything else. I really do feel ashamed to be driving it looking the way it does.

The car doesn't feel any different to drive, even at speed it's stable so I don't think the suspension was damaged. The whack wasn't really that hard, I believe it looks worse than it actually is.

At risk of dragging this out, I'd argue that it hardly requires zen like concentration to throw a punch with a hand on your ear.

Well, I dropped the M5 off at the body shop this morning, they reckon it'll take about a week to fix and a brand new M3 was delivered for me to use in the meantime. Happy days :-)
