should i get iPhone 4?

Gotcha, warm is fine for batteries, but they don't like getting hot (40 degree's+), so I fail to see why the phone getting warm would be an issue, especially in UK where we have a relatively cool climate...

EDIT: 50 degrees may be a bit much however, if you've had your SGS2 less than 2 weeks you may be able to return it under DSR if you ordered it online\/\/?

could i?

i got this off ebay, no warranty, u sure i could send it back?

and what do i have to do?

If you want a phone that just works but is entirely controlled in the way you can work it, relies on a control freak pay as you go infrastructure and treats it's users like they're walking wallets - got to town.

Personally I'd stick with the SGII and wait to see what comes along next. If your issue is with Android and the lack of app prestige that comes along with it jump ship - it's not going to bother anyone here...

EDIT: if you want an understanding of how the Apple 'ethos' works go for a browse through the Apple Hardware thread and see if you can figure out why iPhones are excluded from the 'Mobile Phone' threads...

This is apple were talking about :P they will charge what ever they want because they know people will pay because its an "Apple IPhone"

No, they won't. The pricing will remain (pretty much) the same.

They've made a big mistake in not releasing the iPhone 5 sooner though, a lot of people are jumping ship to the Galaxy S II at the moment.

I'm getting well over 2 days on my SGS2 with some phone calls, texts, a bit of satnav, and some 2D games, but my general usage to be fair is mostly idle. If people have enough time to play heavy graphics 3D games, why not just buy a psp. Until phone makers develop a superdooper powerful battery, I'd imagine games will always sap them fast. On the other hand, perhaps the OP might consider the Experia Play. Maybe it's optimised for better battery life since it's basically a phone psp. Personally, I don't like playing 'proper' games on tiny screens, I play those at home on my desktop.

The Play's battery life is about 'average' for an Android phone, which means playing games on it will drain it pretty fast.

Everything else about it is bad too.

so, basically...everyone likes the GS2 besides me?

lol..

i guess i was expecting more from touchscreen phones then =/ (since this is my first)

not sure if id want iphone4 now =/

does anyone know if the emulator is available or where to get the emulator for iphone4? to play with the interface etc.

i think its better to first try out if i would like it or not. than getting it and regretting later =/

I'll take the more impartial approach:

Firstly, you say that gaming uses 5-10% of your battery life, after what time? Ten minutes? An hour? And how long is your phone lasting during the day, and doing what, for how long? If you are constantly streaming Flash content on a weaker 3G signal, and it lasts only a few hours, you can hardly be surprised. I am a heavy user, but I get enough to last me through the day with 30% left on my DHD, which has worse battery life than your SGS2.

Secondly, if you wanted specific apps and games, you should have researched before you bought. Android apps aren't bad (certainly none of the ones I am using), though I will say that it generally takes a bit more searching.

Finally, if your phone is getting that hot, there is something wrong with your phone.

Before making any moves, try a reinstall, then a replacement if battery life and heat are a major issue (ie. really hot), then consider moving. However, an iPhone 4 isn't a great buy right now, with the iPhone 5 just round the corner.

Maybe you'd be better off getting a laptop or tablet? The battery life will drain a lot if your playing games and on the web all the time.

http://www.mynextfone.co.uk/news/article/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-tops-iphone-4-sales-in-uk-

And according to eWeek, worldwide it's the same story.

OcUK collective or not, this "is" the most popular handset right now being top spot for searches and sales. That will change but not any time soon.

iPhone has seen declined sales due to the population at large knowing it's going to be updated soon. Even my mum told me! :p

I'd like a top of the line Android handset to come out at the same time as the next iPhone and then we'll have a fair comparison.

I doubt the iPhone 5 will bring anything substantial to the table considering iOS 5 doesn't anyway so that just leaves hardware and I doubt they can better the Sensation/Galaxy S II - Only match them.

Which leads on to the "Too little too late" field because the market is already saturated with high end Android devices and a Market that has brought on board the big games and apps so the distance closes even further still on what people used to moan about Android before.

The iPhone will outsell any like-for-like Android handset in a 1v1 situation for the forseeable future, nobody will debate that (or will they? :p).

However, the gap between Android and iOS and the phones themselves is getting smaller, not bigger.
