An Independent Scotland?

im english and love scotland and scottish people. But i belive if scotlands breaks from the uk it wont be able to support itsself and i feel it would be bad for the whole uk.

Actually figures release recently show Scotland puts 10% into UK coffers and takes 9%. I wonder why the UK government dont want to lose Scotland just yet.

What figures are these?

If you're talking about GERS, it is acknowledged by the Scottish government that: "Generally it is not possible to identify separately the proportion of that revenue receivable from Scotland."

Or the UK at all, they're privately owned.

The revenue is generated from Taxation.

The tax revenue wouldn't go to Scotland which is what I mean. If they were given independence they would get a similar percentage as to the percentage of national debt.

Thatcher, the great lady she is, signed all tax revenue to Westminster, not Holyrood. Everything will be dished up equally, they would get a percentage of the tax revenue, but also a percentage of all the debt. (I would point out HBOS and RBS were both originally Scottish

There is none. I don't care really. Take a percentage of the debt? Fine. Borrow the right to use the currency? Sure, have to pay for it though.

The argument was that Scotland makes a %point of GDP more than it spends, which it does, if you include 100% of oil tax revenue.

I never said Scotland was the reason we are in debt, rather that two of the largest contributors to the contraction of credit were originally Scottish companies, it has very little relevance. Debt was racked up by fiscal irresponsibility. We have about £1.2tr national debt, which is closer to £4tr including pension liabilities.

how come all the pro scottish independant people think they will start with a nice clean slate and all of the perks they currently get from beeing members of the UK.
want to keep the GBP currency
dont want any share of the debt.
expect the UK military to protect them.
think all the oil in the north sea will be theres.
