****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Is the stock browser the best out of all of them though?

I've had my SG2 about a month now and up until the day before yesterday I was just using the stock browser.

However, I often get a blank white webpage with a blank white address bar that does not respond unless you close the window and start a fresh, this got quite annoying as did the weird glitches when double-tap zooming and moving around the webpage.

I now use Opera Mobile and it's fantastic, very fast (can't notice any difference between it and stock browser, if anything it's faster), nicely designed (seems liks it's a perfect fit for the SGS resolution), double-tap zoom and reflow work excellently and it seems to have a nice sort of lock function when browsing forums (so you can easily scroll up and down the thread list without viewing the far left column).

If you're zipping around the browser, sometimes the URL bar half disappears and nothing is displayed on the page when moving between (some websites) windows if you use the hardware back button.

A few times it just crashed and restarted itself, too.

All sorts of things like that, it's fast and relatively stable but it's far from perfect.

Having said that, it hasn't done it on this latest firmware... yet.

To be fair I don't use the stock browser very much but I rarely do on any phone I have had but when I do use it I get no issues, I still say Opera Mobile is the best one I have used so far.

Didn't like the browsing on the Sensation get on a page with lots of flash and it struggled moving about was disappointing, reminded me of the browsing on the Optimus X2 it was ok but never felt as good as it should.

I agree with everything Andelusion says above about Opera it is a nice browser.

Yup, this is what I was talking about above.

I don't think it's really that bad at all. It can judder a bit though which you shouldn't really expect I suppose.

I'm going to give Opera a try.

Make sure you get opera mobile not mini.

I've got both to compare, I tried Mini first and it looks rather good

I'll try Mobile now.

Ok, the pages seem to be formatted very strangely. I'm not sure I like that.

Yup, I found that to be the case with both opera browsers as well robbo.

Have you tried dolphin browser HD or boat browser mini, maybe even dolphin mini.

the reason I like opera is it has proper text reflow when pinch and zoom etc it reformats the text its the only one that does.

Liking Opera Mini for general browsing, not liking the lack of flash support though.

Edit: Should have read it properly, wrong Opera ... Mobile works great.

had a few people asking me to repeat myself when talking on the phone, also saying i sound muffled over the last few weeks? anyone had this?

Just had a a go on one of these at Carphone warehouse. Did a side by side comparison with my 3GS. The samsung is clearlly a lot nicer for web browsing, the phone doesn't feel much bigger, but the screen is and can fit a lot more text so things don't feel squashed.

It seemed a bit jerky when scrolling up and down web pages - is that normal?

someone i know had this with an iphone, turned out to be a faulty mic and had to be sent back for replacement.

give your phone to someone else to call you on another number and listen for youself what it sounds like, and if your not happy to to RMA it

No, it is not jerky at all. 100% smooth.
