How does one become a pub landord?

If you're leasing from a brewery tread carefully. In some cases you're required to give them your full accounts (every year) and if you're successful your rent will go up steeply.

I'm with Castle - yourself?

Gilly - As far as I'm aware (also having just covered it on my recent licencing course) that you need to have a personal licence to be a DPS.
I'll re-iterate. I am a landlord and have no licence to sell beer :)

Easiest way is, become a trainee for a brewery owned pub. Then when you qualify/know what you're doing and have the license. Take your own pub on.

After being a licence holder between 20 and 23, I'd never do it again.

However, the easiest way to become a 'landlord'? Get a job in a bar; get good at said job so you know what you're doing; get a managerial position in the bar; take the tests, go to court, get a licence.

Worked for me. :D
