Ignoring face to face poker in actually fact roulette is the game ina casino where the odds of you winning are the greatest. There is only the ) which tips the game to the house.

No it doesn't Blackjack and craps have better odds for the player roulette is one of the worst.

I took all my money off FT after black Friday, anybody who kept money on there with the knowledge of the US DOJ indictments is either insane or just hates money.

Ahh always good to hear from the fish :p

Heard of Nanonoko?

That over $2m consistent profit over a 3 year period, tracking almost 5 million hands played. Pretty lucky huh?

Ah the good old grinders. That guy is insane; 6 tables cripple me and he plays 24.

Edit.

Actually, online poker is probably less 'luck based' than live, seeing as the sample sizes are infinitely higher, meaning a more accurate dipiction of skill. Plus how many half decent live players blink their eyes too fast or breathe too heavily or all that 'tell' stuff you see in films? History and action tells are the only thing that matters.

online poker or face to face poker is a game of chance. You have no control over what hand you get or any cards for that matter. You can help your 'luck' but still you at the mercy of the cards delt to you and the others.

In the short term you are correct, over the long term skill evens out the luck.

For those of you looking for a new place to play, iPoker network and Boss network are good. William Hill is on iPoker if you're really concerned about playing on an English site.

I don't think it matters if its a uk site or not. Internet gambling regulations are quite strict, we run ours from Gibralta as it allows for progressive jackpots that are illegal in the UK. We do however still have rules regarding banned countries and knowingly allowing people to play from these countries can cause all sorts of trouble from us, especially players from the USA.

I thought the main issue with the poker sites that were shut down and had their .coms seized was allowing US citizens on to their sites despite it being banned?

It was allegedly illegal for players to deposit money or for the sites to recieve deposits; playing with money still online was still allowed. The UIGEA act has been analysed to death and there's a bunch of top lawyers who're saying it's inconclusive and the DOJ who're saying otherwise. There's a few layers, one saying that the UIGEA is aimed at pure gambling, when poker has not been legally defined as gambling or a skill game, and others are saying the UEGIA is not specific enough to outlaw it at all. Then there's those who say that because the sites were not based in the US the act doesn't apply etc etc.

[Conspiracy] Of course it would be remiss of me to not mention how the big US Casinos have been planning to launch online poker ventures, and how casinos are often part of politicians main funding, but there we are [/Conspiracy]

It's something that work have asked me to research so I can explain it to others in our department and customer services, and something I looked at for 10 mins and said "shouldn't the training department be doing this?" :D

We are running a site for Harrahs and there is a lot of talk about others sites for them from the UK for people staying in the hotels/casinos in Vegas. Complicated stuff!!

anyone looking for a UK poker room try 888, very fishy, and hopefully more so if some of the folks from this thread joins ;)

Quick review of the software? I moved from FT to ParadisePoker due to 60% rb deal but the software raged me so hard I pretty much quit.

How well do the tables scale/tile? I play 1920x1080 and FT scaled nice enough that I could 4-6 table without overlaps and couldn't with PP.

Oh, and what's the 6max traffic like if you know?

For those with money tied up on FTP, the hearing run by the AGCC starts today at 10am, so hopefully we might actually get some information today regarding the future of FTP & our money.

Lol. 'Move up where they will respect your raises' etc /2+2 :p

Shouldn't be too miffed as that is after all what you want, somebody calling you big with a 1 or 2% chance of winning as over time you will come out tops.

I should find another site to play really, play on PKR and there are too many numpties who ignore your big raises and call you when they should have folded.

Also, although they claim PKR is genuinely random I have seen too many times the river winning it for a player when it shouldn't have. Also I have seen in two years of playing maybe 20 to 30 hours a month at least 3 royal flushes and the following incredible hand which cost me over $4500.

Final table and I was 3rd place with chips.

I had KK.

The flop was AKQ.

Now I was hoping somebody would have an Ace and was wondering how I would maximise my winnings.

Big round of raises and there are 3 of us left.

Next card was a K so queue more heavy betting and I thought I had the game won.

Last card was an A.

More betting and I ended up allin against the chip leader. I was gutted when he showed his AA. Wiped out in one hand and finished 8th when really I was on for a top 5, maybe top 3 finish as I had 10 times more chips than two or three playes on the table.

Of course that guy went on to win as he had over 3/4 of the chips in play.
