Hey Guys,

I'm very close to the next major system upgrade to my current system. Been holding out for BullDozer like everyone else for the last few years. I don't have that much money and whatever I do have to spare generally goes on my hobby :)

I currently have 3x Dell SP2309W Monitors ( 2048 * 1152 Standard Res / 6144 * 1152 Eyefinity ) Supported by a Q6600 @3.3Ghz and 8 Gig 1066Mhz Gold OCZ Memory, 2x 6950 ( Flashed to 6970 @ 6970 Clock / Max 6970 speeds ( Stable )

My current setup requires a new CPU, MOBO n RAM until I will be happy but i'm not one for wasting money and want to see a nice AMD / INTEL war when the new chips come out like everyone else ;)

I'm currently studying Computer Science ( Software Develpoment / Prgramming ) And enjoy it very much. I originally went down the eyefinty route to play games but pretty much gave up on it after crossfired 5870s and my current 6950s ( 6970s ), Plenty of power but let down by shoddy drivers ect ( PC Gamming is screwed ) I did however fall in love with the space a productivity improvment. I'd rather play a game on one monitor and code on 3 :)

Anyways what I now want to do this year is build a brand new PC from scratch using some of my old components ( GFX Cards + Case ect ) and keep the remaining components to build another SQL Server ect for coding ;)

I really want to make a personal setup ( Possibly watercooling ) for my new PC and I also want to integrate the old set-up ( For use as server ) all in the same place.

The chase : I really like my setup right now but would like to possibly cut the glass holing the keyboard so that it fits in perfect, I would like to design my own entire case to hold a new build with PSU x 2 and have more than enough room for eyefinity and actully fit SATA cables into a normal MOBO !!! I basically want make my own case from scratch via aluminium, design it properly and modify my desk the way I want it. I appreciate this is a major task but would appreciate any help / suggestions from anyone in the same boat as to which material to buy and tools required for the modificications.

Thanking You,

Kev

I dont quite understand what you mean, the pic isn't of very high quality. You mean making the entire desk a pc case as such ? I like where your are going with this but restrictions have to be made also. My whole enviroment is to be moved shorty as will be moving in with my girl ( of 8 years :) ) I want somthing that will take up around the same space as such but there will need to reasonable legroom and enought room for at least one server case. The new case I want to create can be anysize tho but accomadate livingroom also.

Oh wait a minute !!! Just looked a bit more into that picutre in dept ! That is completely brilliant ! On first glance I never realised the whole desk was a case as such. I really aprecciate the input, I have so much more ideas in my head now

What I Would really appreciate from this thread is any guidance on what tools to use ect for cutting metals and any guidance from anyone that has attempted the same sort of project.

Really nice post mate, you have me thining a hell of a lot more now,

Thank You

yes, the entire desk was a PC case. in your situation though i feel this wont be practical atall, and a simple desk and nice windowed case at the side of your monitors would suffice

Believe it or not Van Hellseek everyone one of the monitor cables ( DVI x2 + DP ) are all cable tied to the actual desk itself. I Spent many hours making it as tidy as possible but as always one movment ment multiple new cables. Ny WIFI is actully called Spaghetti Junction !!! Take a look ;)

Meh. Van Hellseek cant be assed posting my Spagetti Junction. Phone being not wanting to play, but it's a hell of a mess : )

Reaper I really appreciate your post, much food for thought. What I Would really like to do is find some way of cutting the glass on my desk so that the keyboard layed in it perfectly. I understand this is pretty anal but I would love to have something as swish as this. Any ideas on how to do this this or anyone to contact for this ?
