Is it rude NOT to place a conveyor belt divider after your shopping?

In a lot of extremely busy London supermarkets most people, including the checkout operators, don't bother with the dividers at all, especially during busy lunchtimes where most customers are just buying a small basket of items.

I don't find the non-placing of dividers rude at all and got into the habit of not bothering, but in other areas I've noticed that some people get quite worked up about it. I just think it's so stupid to make a fuss about it, if you leave a small gap between your shopping and the one in front it's fine, and it's not as if putting the divider there is going to mean you have to queue for less time.

Yes, if there's someone in the Q behind you. 9 times out of 10 they can't reach the damn thing so it's just polite.

Umm never thought about it before tbh...But as a rule i put my own divider there if im behind somone and have never actually considered it rude at all so maybe I dont really think its rude.... lol you freaks...

If they cant reach the divider I will place one down for them, if they can clearly and easily reach a divider then they can do it themselves the lazy gits.

Sometimes I do it, sometimes I don't.

Entirely circumstantial and I don't care either way if someone in-front of me does or does not place a divider.

Not sure what the huge issue is with holding your basket/trolley still for an extra 5 seconds until the belt moves along and you can grab one yourself. You are not getting checked out any slower or faster according to the time a divider is placed.

Anyone who thinks it is the ultimate of rude gestures needs their head checked.

As someone who works at Tesco, if I see two things of shopping without a divider, how am I supposed to know who has each bit of shopping? Sure, sometimes there's a gap, but what if I'm not looking over that way, the gap quickly dissapears since the belt would just move it all up to me, so I wouldn't know.

That said, if I see it happen, and the next person in line has something expensive right at the front, damn right I'm going to scan it. Because anything over £10 can't be voided off without team leader/manager authorization. So if I get the chance, that holds up both people because neither one of them could be bothered to place down a divider, and I sit around doing nothing until someone comes along to void them off.

Fight the power!

I always put one after my shopping. If the person in front doesn't they usually do otherwise they end up paying for my things. :)

You ALWAYS should do, it would be stupid not to and the person behind you would be thinking wtf is he doing.

Its Clear the if you dont put it down you must have something wrong with you how can you not notice its what they are there for

this is why immigrants get all the jobs, it's entirely your fault :p

Speaking of conveyor belt rudeness a woman once pushed directly passed me and jumped the queue in a very large supermarket in south east london. I politely complained and she actually said 'talk to the hand cos the face aint listening!' Now that is rude.

I didn't know anyone outside of jerry springer's victims said that in real life.

HaHa, well played sir. Agree 100% with your actions and reasons for it.
