Milly Dowler's voicemail was hacked by News of the Screws

As I said, I voted for the local conservative candidate, not for the Conservative Party. Perhaps you need to learn the difference?

perhaps you need to learn that candidates tow the party line otherwise they wouldnt be running for MP's for the tory party, they have whips for a reason

perhaps its just coincidence that Cameron and Hunt had dinner with murdoch and brooks last christmas, perhaps hammering out a how much will you donate to let us take bskyb kind of discussion

The party line is largely defined by the type of candidate voted for though ;)

Can a mod "magic" away all the offtopic posts and dump them in their own thread (if that power is possible ofc)

I didn't consider her insane until I had her letter back.

Largely, I don't actually agree with the Tories on the Poor, unless you count IDS, but IDS (and Cameron to a large extent) are not 'typical' tories.

Do you write to them all?

Oh they are pretty much on this subject. The prominant ones are just forunate enough with the odd/sticky out personality or long history in the party everyone else is a backbencher who you don't hear of unless they've said something stupid or wrong. Goes for all political parties.

Yet, 'The Nasty Party' is already starting to cry again around the press up here, and it's hard not to see why.

In a stockhausen thread nothing is off topic, especially when it's Conservatism and the Murdoch empire. I can empathise, but what else are we going to do in a politically loaded thread?

All repeat the same message of how unbelievably crass and distasteful this alledged phone hacking was? Increadibly, but it would make for a dull conversation.

well my reply did suggest the issue of Accountability for discussion.

When you work for a company and you do something illegal when working on behalf of that company. Are you as a person arrested and that solves the problem (in the eyes of the Law) or does some commission or inquiry need to look at the conduct of NoW the company (oh wait...hasnt someone already done that haha :p)

I hope we see an awful lot of people spending time at Her Majesty's finest penal establishments for this.

From the link in the OP:

"Detectives from Scotland Yard's new inquiry into the phone hacking, Operation Weeting, are believed to have found evidence of the targeting of the Dowlers in a collection of 11,000 pages of notes kept by Glenn Mulcaire, the private investigator jailed for phone hacking on behalf of the News of the World."

This thread is no base for you dolph etc to argue about political issues.

This thread is about a girl who was murdered who had her phone hacked by a news paper.

But feel free to post what you like, it's an open forum.

I agree, it's such a shame that the OP started it in such a way that it was inevitable..

Boiling with rage at this, honestly sickening to know they hacked her phone ffs :(

I mean how could you sleep at night, listening to the messages of the family asking for her to come home safe and then delete messages, just so you can listen to even more! **** me

Some pretty low shenanigans, why the media even mentioned celebrities when so much worse went on than their pathetic existences gaining ever more publicity.

Rupert Murdoch looks frailer by the year though *crosses fingers*

The real problem is the utterly powerless Press Complaints Comission and the laughable idea that self-regulation works. Those defending Murdoch because he's not being on the frontline of such journalism is to ignore the culture created by such a figurehead who judges editors by newspaper sales and political acquiescence rather than proper journalism or behaviour that meets even basic moral standards.

This is an appalling story that will get some attention in the broadsheets whilst the tabloids will bury it underneath more important news about celebrities doing inane things and essentially pretend that this never happened. Hardly any reader is likely to stop buying the NOTW, which is the only action that will change this type of journalism.

We were discussing, and you are attacking me for defending this thread in the first place. Well done. ;)
