I have the drive in a SATA 3 port not 2, and I find these speeds slow?
Wondering if my satacable may be sata 2 and not sata 3?
mobo is gigabyte p55a-ud4

I thought the drive was rated at 500mb read/writeand I thought these values I got were extremely low, so it looks all normal to you?
Won't buying a sata 3 cable make a difference?

No.

All SATA cables are essentially the same.

You can try a different cable if you have one.

The SATA 3 ports on that motherboard are from Marvell and they're not very good.

Run atto benchmark once and it will give you an idea of it's true speed. Agility 3 uses compression to get big numbers..

sata cables are the same but it wont make a blind bit of difference if you havent got a sata 6gbps controller
make sure the drive is on the sata 6gbps ports if you have them
also make sure AHCI is enabled.

It is in the SATA 3 ports and AHCI is enabled, which controller card would you recommend which will alow higher read/write speeds from my ssd?
tbh at the moment windows loads nearly as slow as my mechanicle hard drive.
