Can't spell, couldn't work out what the black line was... 1st line are you?

I do the lot, on rotation like all of us that work at my place, most day's im out on the road, the reason I was in the office just on the phones today was because of the 522mile round trip I did Yesterday, Set off at 05:30am got to site at 10:30 did the job then set off back at 15:30 didn't get home till 21:30 last night due to traffic.

BTW i still have the Red Bull Shakes, hence the extra incorrect spellings than normal.

It worries me that you needed to connect to the woman's PC to know to realise that the black line she was talking about on Google and only Google was the recent update to the website. Can't get decent tech support these days! :D

The way a user will tell you, you may think you know 100% what the problem is, but always check for yourself.

Also I could tip our support suite upside down on this thread and you'd find a gem every 5 tickets, but most of them always seem to originate from the same users.

One lady always sends us emails saying essentially "There is a problem." When we ask for more info we may get "there is an error message". "what is the error message please?" "there is an error on the screen."

I don't know about everyone else but customers at the firm I work for seem to find it hard to come to terms with the fact that computers actually break from time to time.

The best gem ive ever had was when I worked in a builds and installations team. Installed a PC for a local government customer and she immediately picked up the mouse and proceeded to move it along the monitor.......

If someone from a different trade asked me something about something I know nothing about, I'm sure I'd look an idiot as well.

Agree'd however I often hear that the reason someone has forgotten their password is because they are "computer illiterate".......
 
when i worked helpdesk i had a woman call up who, iirc, required some drivers installing.

Me: Ok, so take the disc out of the case. Now there will be a button on the computer, near the top, which sits just below a rectangular recess. Press that.

*whirry sound of drawer opening*

Her: Ok, i've done that.

Me: Good, now put the CD in the drawer and close it.

*slidey sound opening and closing*

Her: Yep, sure.

Me: Now something should pop up on the screen, it'll be called "autorun options" or something along those lines. Let me know when it comes up...

*wait about a minute*

Me: Nothing come on the screen yet?

Her: No nothing

Me: Ok, move the mouse to the My Computer icon. Double click on it. The drives will be labelled with letters. The drive labelled D: should be called something like "Logitech xxxx Drivers". Can you see it?

Her: Yes, but it just says "CD/DVD drive".

Me: (i'm now thinking she has put the CD in upside down) err.. ok. can you click that little button on the computer again?

Her: Yes

Me: Take the CD out.

Her: It's empty

Me: Empty? What do you mean it's empty? Where's the CD?

Her: In the drawer.

Me: *smashes face into desk*
