British Soldier Missing in Afghanistan

Whats the point in training the ana if half of them are taliban/corrupt and just want to kill coalition soldiers?should have pulled them all out and let them get on with it years ago when the last fighting troops left Iraq.
I know allot of people will say that the soldiers who have died died in vain but what is there to gain? You cant win against people who kidnap kids and strap bombs to them.I seen something a while ago about a mother who sent all her sons (4) of them on suicide missions and when interviewed if she was not sad about it she said "No and i would sacrifice more if i had any other children".You cant win against people with mindsets like that, absolute madness.

They'll find him easily, the taliban are sitting ducks right now, they're using mobile phones to communicate and the US forces have free access to zone in on taliban phone calls.

Whether they get the solider back in one piece is a different issue.

Because the other half of them aren't and tbh... 'taliban' is a bit of a loose association. Plenty of local commanders are willing to switch sides and the best way we're likely to achieve aims over there is to re-integrate parts of the taliban (senior types aside) into the current regime.

my bad read the thread, he was already killed. I thought they might keep him hostage or something.

This whole war was a stupid idea. Fine it all made sense after 9/11, but did we really need to go on a healf hearted war? commiting to an invasion, and not sending enough to get the job done properly?

It seems that we were holding back from going into afghanistan fully, because they were reserving troops for Iraq.

If we were going to have an half assed attempt at a war, we would have pulled a libya, We could have used drones to spy in on alqaeda training camps, take them out by air, bingo, zero casualties, we're just creating more suicide bombers by invading their countries.

You can't really blame them really, a lot of these people have no access to TV, a lot of these afghans have no idea that we're there to retaliate for 9/11 and even if they did they probably can't see the connection what these Suadi Arabian's did, and how Afghanistan is involved. Didn't the 9/11 hijackers learn to fly planes in the US? The only thing these afghans know is what they see and here in their small towns and villages, as far as they're conncered there are foreign soldiers walking around on their streets, they're being invaded.

Get the troops out, it's not worth risking more lives, we're not achieving anything/

I just dont understand how this man could have been let out of the camp by himself.

If he did breakout then how easy is it for them to breakin?

A lady I work with has a friend who's husband is out there at the moment and fairly high up, apparently.

He supposedly lost his nightvision goggles whilst out on patrol and recieved a bollocking from his C.O. for doing so. He had gone looking for them after hours.

This may well be totally unreliable but is what I've heard.

May well be true, the absolute last thing they want is the taliban getting the night visions, being able to raid taliban compounds at night is probably one of the most effective tactics (alone with the drones), the taliban having night vision goggles, would be a huge disadvantage to nato forces.
