****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Yea thats not a bad idea tbh, though they apparently use vodafone which is who I want...hmm!

Talkmobile do indeed use the same tower network as Vodafone. The only real differences are the fact you have to deal through them, and their customer service is apparently lacking. You also lose the ability to use a suresignal box which is a deal breaker for me.

Just connected my phone to the PC & opened up Kies, It is saying new firmware available.

going from PDA:KE1 / Phone:KD5 / CSC KD4 (HG3) to PDA KE:4 / Phone:KF2 / CSC:KF1 (HG3)

Is this 2.3.4? Hope it is!

Thanks for the heads up! I just plugged my phone into Kie's and am upgrading too!

Matt.

Fail

Any way to upgrade the firmware other than through Kies? When I run Kies on my vista 32bit laptop it just comes back with 'KiesPDLR stopped working' and any of the other components of the program fail to load when executed (like driverinstaller etc).

When I try to firmware upgrade it downloads the firmware, does a backup and then the firmware component stops responding.

I have un installed Kies and re downloaded. I deleted all the files in the %temp% folder and removed the samsung folder etc.

Any clues?

Cheers,
Matt.

Kies annoys me, so I use Odin. It is much more technical though and you can brick your phone if you don't follow instructions to the letter.

Hmm, Kies has stopped working for me... I must have disabled something in Titanium backup that affected it, but I checked and I didnt freeze Kies. I cant even use it as mass storage, though the device charges fine. Any ideas?

Going to do this now because the update I had yesterday has Android OS at 50%+ under battery status, Finished charging at 12:30am & it is already at 23% battery, One phone call, 5 mins on samurai & 30mins listening to music. I keep getting "charging paused. Battery temp too high or too low" errors, The phone is warm but not as hot as it has been before.

I've done my 1st update through Kies without any problems - Normally use Odin.

Not sure what CF Root Kernal I use on this version so will have to wait for Root access.

Shows nothing for me :(

"This version of the device cannot be updated"
PDA:KE7 / Phone:KF2 / CSC:KD1 (XEU)

It wouldn't be because I'm using the XXKF2 kernel from XDA-Dev would it?

do u guys have a samsung dive on the phone? im trying to set it up, but wonder if i have frozen it? i can't see the app on my phone

Tried that XEU update & my phone wouldn't get any signal at all. Reverted back to the original firmware I got with the phone & everything is back to normal. Although now kies thinks I still have the XEU update installed :/

I'm not having any luck with these firmwares at all haha. Most stable for me has been I9100XWKE1.

Could there be a new Galaxy S II with WinMob 7 Mango?

There's rumours flying around of a new model number with features akin to WinMob 7 Mango.
