Downloading from Steam seems very slow tonight.....

Im suspicious that its BT's traffic managment getting in the way once again....

They fix the BFBC2 issues to brake steam? Great! :o

Just seen a FTTH distribution point go up on my telephone pole across the street. Does anyone typically know how long it will take before the service is ready?

What speeds are people getting when 1km away from the FTTC cab?

Friend of mine at 870 meters has full sync, it really depends on line quality and if the copper is 0.5cu. also the Dside being underground my help.

Hello all

Just had my vdsl installed and seems a bit jumpy, first speed test I did I was getting 35m bps and 7.1m bps

Now I am getting this

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1380557785.png and this a few mins after

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1380562852.png :/

I live In london but speedtest seems to think I am in Aberdeen??

Read it's best to wait 24hours for line to be completely stable?

My cable router hasn't arrived yet (ordered last week :/ ) so this could be because I am using a Netgear WGR614.v6?

cheers

I'll take a picture tonight. It's definitely FTTH, I went out and had a chat with the engineers as they put it up, they even let me handle the cable so I could have a close look at it :)

had a bit of the jitters just now over my order for 15th July.

First I got a voicemail saying my order is on schedule but engineer will be attending between 8am to 6pm (I selected 8am to 10am slot online)
Then I get a txt message saying my telephone activation is oncourse (I`m switching my telephone too) but my broadband has been delayed.
So I rang the number on the txt message and got BT India which I know is wrong as the Indian call centre does not handle Infinity calls. They then put me through to the UK and I queried the broadband delayed message.

After a bit of checking the lady told me she had seen the txt message and it was wrong, she checked with the Engineers and my order is still on course but then she told me 8am to 1pm.
I said this was not right as I`m looking at my tracking page and it clearly states 8am to 10am. She said this was not right as they only have 8am to 1pm. So I said well I`m looking at my tracking page now. She then went away and came back and apologised she did not realise that online orders give you a smaller time span option !

So everything looks set to go as ordered.

That's positive. I'm 750m and will be having the service installed next Wednesday.

What does the BT speedtest report?

Thats what I'm saying, all the BT and Openreach tests said I would only get 11Mb, but now its installed I'm synching at 27Mb and speedtest.net is confirming that.

So pleased, if only I could get them to change my upstream profile, but they won't because the "tester" says I can't get more than 11Mb downstream even though I do.. what sort of stupid setup is that where they won't sell me a more expensive product because a faulty test give them erroneous information.

Biffa I would email the CEO of bt and I'm sure they will upgrade your service. I'm 100% sure it will work.

So glad I'm on unlimited, my usage is going crazy this month... all because of Steam's summer sale and two reformatted PCs in my flat. Think Valve's having server capacity issues though, keep getting "Servers are too busy to handle your request".

According to the welsh government every home will have fibre by 2020, every business 2016.

Only another 9 years to wait :/

I got this when I rang sky with problems with my line.

Because their test/postcode checker says I'm only eligible for 3Mb they refused to help when I dropped to 3800kbps (even though I sync at 6496 normally).

"but sir, you can only get 3Mb and you're connected at 3800! Woah.. Slow down.. If anything thats too quick LOL!"
