eBay: Is there a way to contact an item buyer if the username is masked?

So I recently purchased an item on ebay but heard only once from the seller. I've sent numerous messages but got no reply and it's been over a week already.

I can see that the seller sold a similar item to mine to another user, but the username is masked. I would like to message this user to ask him if he/she has heard from the seller at all but obviously I can't as the username is masked.

Is there anyway I can contact this other buyer? Other then that I think I will start a PayPal claim.

Thanks

Check to see if feedback has been left for that transaction, that should show the person's ID unless it was a "private" listing.

Thats only if you want to get all the seller details, phone number, address etc.
You get a copy of theirs, they also get a full copy of yours.

So what username is he meant to put in there then? Considering it's blanked out?
He has purchased an item, he knows the username of the person he is doing business with and can get a telephone number. Shouldn't need to involve anyone else or try to bypass eBay privacy policy.

Some sellers don't respond (yes it's poor service, but that's how some people/businesses are) and the item may yet turn up without any acknowledgement. If OP doesn't get the item or hear anything he should open a dispute with eBay or PayPal as soon as the minimum time has passed.

If the item does turn up and/or the seller repsond late then OP can mark the DSRs low for communication.

Opened a dispute now. Tried to ring a few times yesterday and today as well with the contact details provided by eBay but it's going straight to voicemail.

He's not read the OP properly has he? ;)
You're right, I misread it :p doesn't matter though - the contact details page in order to get a telephone number, then opening a dispute is the only viable course of action. Trying to circumvent eBay privacy is not the right thing to do, especially when there are robust, buyer friendly procedures in place case of seller non-performance.
