Battlefield 3 on October 25th!
open beta start of september?

It sounds like they taking cues from pr. Very similar, in PR you have a deployed firemode that gives more accuracy. It takes a few seconds to setup and you cannot move very much, which other games separate that from running and gunning

Surpressive fire is also as it should be, its no bad thing to add these details to a game. Put it this way, in a computer game its all perfect and every time you play everything is exactly the same every time and you learn the little tricks etc.
The gun always fires the same, its the same ground to jump over, its never slippy and you never take a wrong step because its a predictable computer environment.
Adding in suppressed fire is one tiny thing to account for things not going your way, the dirt kicks up the vision is blurry or whatever. HDR also should reduce vision sometimes, people seem to exclude the disadvantage and time it takes to focus on things in real life. I think its at least 5 seconds to adjust for light change, dusty environments should be extremely debilitating
Everything in a game is always 20/20, it actually adds gameplay to account for real disadvantages that vary which each game. So kudos to Dice for nicking ideas like this :p

I really don’t care about it not being on steam, its usually cheaper buying it from an online shop.

The thing that’s concerning me is the slight step back in destruction, were in Bad company you could take down any building, destruction in this game looks cosmetic only. :(

Yeah that tower block falling looked very cosmetic i have to say!

Theres no way the mp in this would have less building destruction than BC2 had. You think theyre gonna demo a tower block falling and the ground being torn up and then dumb the mp destruction back to sub bc2 levels? Granted the tower blocks in mp probably won't fall but thats a bit extreme anyway.

hope i still get the chance to play recon the way i prefer to in bc2 switching form midrange sniper to assualt spearheading

Its funny that EA keep claiming that its Valve not letting them have "full control" over DLC and patch releases when actually all Valve are saying is "No, you may not give exclusive DLC to other retailers, if they have it then our customers must have it." Which frankly is fair enough. I am suprised other retailers don't have this clause as well. I would hate to buy BF3 from Gamersgate or D2D only to find that a month or two down the line I can't get any DLC because it is only avaliable to those who bought through Origin.

It's a shame it wont be on steam. But a game such as BF3 I think deserves a nice shiny boxed version, it's been a while since I've got a boxed PC game. Damn you steam sales.

Its called a scripted single event, show me that in multi player

Really? SOURCE!?

Just from all the footage shown at E3, you cant get into the buildings and it looks like all you can do is create a hole in them with explosives.

Edit: http://news.tgn.tv/battlefield-3-destruction-is-getting-nerfed/

Damage is done to façades built onto structures, rather than the actual structures themselves – you’re not going to be bringing buildings down in Battlefield 3 like you did in Bad Company 2 outside of scripted moments in singleplayer and possible hard-coded objectives in multiplayer

Hmm interesting. If that is the case indeed then what the heck EA are playing upto? If EA wants to release DLC on other sites, then release DLC on steam aswell please.

I hope EA don't become stingy like Activision:mad:

Congrats on almost reading my post properly. Musta been in too much of a hurry to get your little rolleyes in. It was established about 5 seconds after the sp footage came out that the tower block was obviously scripted, its whole purpose was to show off the level of destruction the new engine can handle.
