****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

How can we see when its in standby from that pic? Unless your saying you didnt really use the phone much in those 14hrs? In which case I'd expect more than 46% left

It's in standby when the phone isnt awake. I was using the phone for the first 5 hours as i was downloading apps, configuring launcher pro and tasker, playing some games ect, wifi, bluetooth. this is why the battery dropped from 100% to roughly 64% in those 5 hours so ignore that. the other ten hours no, i didnt use the phone that much, again thats evident in the graph. during this period the phone dropped from ~64% to 46%. 18% in 10 hours including the occasional usage (the dips in batter life which coincide with the phone waking up).

18% in 10 hours with light usage is perfectly acceptable to me. Theoretically, i'd get 50 hours out of the phone with this usage on a full charge. That to me seems very good considering it's only the standby usage that the majority of people seem to have a problem with. This is no better for me than it was on 2.3.3, by the way.

I find 2.3.4 (VillainROM on CWM CF-Root KF2 kernel) battery life better than previous 2.3.3 with the same usage.

If I was to put a figure on to it I would say in the region of 25% better.

I also get a higher HSDPA signal by approximately +1 bar given where I am. This could be attributed to the latest Radio/Modem flash though which is recommended for 2.3.4.

I'm really clueless on this stuff, but if you're getting about 25% improvement, then I'd like to try it. I know there's different combinations of ROMs, kernels, etc, but is there a specific thread somewhere that details how to get my phone exactly the same as your 'combo' so to speak, and does this villain rom change the look/skins of the phones menus, like the stock calendar, etc? Is it pretty risky rooting, changing roms, changing firmware as far as possibly bricking the phone?

Ahh right I see. Yeh id say battery is no better than before, though I didnt seem to have the same issues as some.

So I saw last night that Lite'ning released a 2.3.4 based ROM. So after some faffing about (I should note that the faffing, I believe, was due to my PC having a KIES process running in the background whilst I was flashing via Odin, this stopped the flash from fulling working), I've finally got the thing to work on my SGS2.

Just looking through the settings and wondered if anyone using Villain 2.0 see there being a "Timeout" option under the screen unlock settings? I can't remember seeing this on 2.3.3 based roms?

But anyway, have been using Lite'ning before Villain and somewhat prefer it, so will give it a test on this ROM and post back any findings of note :)

Yeah my GPS works a lot better, i don't think anyone should expect miracles from battery life, it is what it is. i think some will see an improvement other won't depending on how the phone is used.

I just want CM7!

you may have the same issue i did. lots of people saying "speak up" or mentioning i sound muffled. i tested using my wifes handset and sure enough she was muffled when using mine.
returned to o2 for a replacement which works fine.

i recommend using another handset and get a helper to test!

I've been testing with the missus, we both have SGS2s and both sound very muffled compared to our old phones. I might try getting mine replaced but surely it would be bad luck to have two faulty handsets!

I've found that my SGS2 sounds very "flat" compared to my HD2 even when using bluetooth.

But then again I always thought my HD2 sounded "tinny" :D

I agree it would have to be bad luck.

I would test with 1 SGS2 and another random phone. i went around the block and my mrs called me, then swapped handsets and positions and i called my phone, was 100% the issue with muffled sound. Replacement model sounds fine.

you could always go down to your local phone shop and test one

Postie woke me up at 7:30 this morning to deliver mine, not bad as it wasn't sent until Friday afternoon.

Now I've got to play around with it and read all 276 pages of this thread :(
