****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

you are an idiot...

i try and help you, so do others, but you can't grasp it!

Mate I conceded, no need for name calling.

I should have heeded the wise words, never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

can you explain what it is you don't understand?

can you please explain why you think paying £750 (or whatever it is) over 24 months is better than paying £450 (or whatever it is) over 12... can you please HELP me understand as im lost with you stupidity

*Your

Cost per month:

750/24 = 21.25
450/12 = 37.5

It's really not rocket science?

Also refrain from making personal attacks, you are free to disagree with me, but calling me names is poor form.

So after the first 12 months you do what with the phone? Get another contract to use it.

So if you compare TOTAL cost it has to be over the same period. i.e. 12 or 24 months. You can't just say "look total cost for 12 months is X and 24 is Y and X < Y and is therefore a better deal".

With X you will have to buy another 12 months of network services.

Its honestly not the hardest thing to grasp.

You either compare cost per month, or total costs over a similar time period. It is not a rational comparison to compare total costs over two different time lengths.

i give up... you could sell the phone in 12 months and get around £250 back, you are free to do as you please

move to another provider, haggle a better deal, flip between 12 month or rolling contract, payasyougo, or get a new shiny Samsung galaxy s3! :D

why the hell would anyone wanna tie themselves to a 24 month contract when its 40% more!

i know its low to insult... so won't

the fact is though... it is what it is... and you are an idiot!

sukh - your deal is £600 after cash back for 24 months - its a good deal
600mins
ul text
ul web with no FUP

jimlad other deal is £430 after cashback for 12 months

400 cross network mintues
1000 texts
1gb web data

2 different good deals that you both cannot compare directly.

he thinks we arent understanding that the £750 24 month contract is cheaper over that 24 month period than 2x £450 12 month contracts would be (£450 x 2 = £900 over 24, naturally). He thinks people arent clever enough to see that but he hasnt considered that by the time he is signing up to his second 24 month contract, the guy on the 12 month contract would be signing for his third, and subsequently will be receiving his third phone. now all things being equal, is it worth paying an additional £250 over a 24 month period if it halves your upgrade time and gives you a second shiny new phone after the first twelve months?

of course it is ;)

My sister gets 600 minutes unlimited texts and 500mb web for £10 per month... second year you dont take out a contract and go sim only, making your total cost over 24 months 570...

750 / 24 = 31.25
570 / 24 (12 months contract + 12 month sim only) = 23.75

So save money per month and only locked down for 12 months...

Mate, you can't be this dim surely?

At the end of your contract you OWN the phone, you can do what the hell you like with it, you can even go on PAYG if you want, or even sell it to one of the many places that buy them.

You cannot compare this to renting as only a small portion of the total monthly payment is actually a rental payment. (Line rental is usually circa 7-15 quid a month depending your tariff.) If you want most mobile companies will just charge you for line rental alone if you don't want a phone.

The rest is going towards your eventual purchase of the phone as these things are EXPENSIVE, but your mentality seems to not be allowing you to place a perceived value to it.

If you were to buy an S2 they are currently about £450-500 on the net to buy outright.

Just popped into this thread to check for the latest info on the Galaxy S2 but it seems to have morphed into gocomparemymobilepackage.com
