Get a second hand Cove Stiffee or Evil Sovereign

Could probably find a 19"/L frame for a couple of hundred quid, as long as your fork steerer is long enough moving everything across should work out fine.
edit: 179 quid for an 18"

The post-lady looked rather unimpressed when I answered the door. I don't think I've had someone give me such contempt in quite a while. She must be on.![]()

Has anyone ridden any trails on the Isle of Wight? Trying to decide if I'd be insane to put together a single-speed MTB. Fixie might be pushing it towards suicidal, but I can't tell what the terrain or the hills are like.
Route is here if anyone knows it: http://www.designcatalyst.plus.com/Map.html
Hybrid tyres generally offer a little more comfort (due to their wider nature) and more/deeper tread to deal with rough surfaces and mild off-road conditions. The bike has some unbranded hybrid tyres fitted at the moment but am thinking about getting some proper road tyres. Being a total n00b to road cycling, what benefits do road tyres have over hybrid tyres?
Had a cracking few runs on the Cwmcarn DH last night, fastest yet! Flew the last section (still unsure with jumps atm) from the road gap onwards. Middle section is having a work over and is detoured through the trees and rooty, sharp steep corners, technical stuff. Roll on next weekend!
