Why do people buy into apple BS?

iPad 2 is awesome, I've got one. Hardware is really high quality and it's responsive. Email client is good. Apps and games are better on the iPad I'm fairly sure.

Internet has no flash I'll give you that but it's not that much of a hindrance.

If I wanted full computing experience then I've got a powerful Windows 7 laptop but that's not what it's for.

But inferior tech products that cost more?

Explain inferior? Do you mean inferior as in not as good or inferior as in ticks less boxes on some list you have in your head that's got lots of jiggabytes and teraflops?

So many people have this obssession - BUT IT'S INFERIOR, WHY DO YOU LIKE IT? YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO PREFER IT I NEED STATISTICAL PROOF AS TO WHY IT'S BETTER!

And that's all wrong. Why can't you just let people like the things they like? Does it hurt your feelings that they like the iPhone, when you know deep down in your statistical heart that your phone has more megapixels and gigabytes and more front side bus, but they can't understand?

Can't you just be happy that your phone is best for you?

Moat people I know hate itunes...and most people I know want better cameras and higher res screens on their apple products not quirky apps that read bar codes on kechup bottles.

Someone else has said this already but iTunes is a very Apple app - it doesn't make much sense to a PC user because it works all backwards.

I totally understand why Windows bods don't like it because it's fairly back to front when you plonk it on a PC, but once you get used to it it's quite good. Not perfect, but quite good.

On a Mac, it makes perfect sense, and most Windows media players would seem a bit backwards because Mac apps tend to work a bit different. It's not a matter of better or worse, just different.

I think pardon the wait speaks sense, and if all Apple users were of the same mind I don't think it would matter. My experience, however is people walking past our range of tablets to the iPad, flicking the desktop back and forth a bit and saying how great it is. I ask them if they've seen our other tablets and they say they would only get an iPad. I inquire further, the response is invariably "i dunno, I just want an iPad. They're just better". The lack of knowledge implies that despite not even having investigated the competition they assume the Apple product is best. This tells me the marketing is good, not the product. It is a good product, but I like to customize my devices more so I went Android. No grudge against Apple or the people who choose their products, just against the idiots who don't choose a product to suit them because they succumb to some excellent marketing. Tbh the simplicity of Apple kit is probably suited to them anyway. /rant

The samsung S2 screen makes the iphone 4 look dated beyond its 12 months release

If you're comparing the Samsung Galaxy S II to the iPhone 4 then I've already told you that the iPhone has a higher resolution screen. I've got the SGS II and my girlfriend has an iPhone 4. Both screens are excellent, mine is bigger of course but hers looks slightly crisper, especially when playing YouTube vids.

Like I said; it's a great brand.

THe issue I have with it is people buy the brand, not the spec, if people were more sensible and bought on value, the only downside is Apple wouldn't be so overpriced for the spec, and we'd be able to buy Ipad 2's for less money than we do now.

Apple make, honest to god flat out sick profits, this is because they charge more for lower specs than other people do. If people simply refused to overpay for the stuff, prices would come down, its that simple. But people buy the brand , for no reason other than its shiny, white and works, why not buy because its pretty, it works, AND its good value, all it takes is telling Apple you're not a fanboy, won't be held to ransom and will pay a fairer price, Apple will still make multiple billions, just slightly fewer multiple billions and everyone is happy.

When people buy stupidly, because they arbitrarily rate one brand more than another, they only hurt their own and everyone elses wallet, its retarded.

That's just most people though, it's the same with computers, or cars or anything really, I genuinely can't understand why someone would go and buy a dell pc, when you can get better specs, and pay less if you build it yourself. Same for cars, people will buy complete garbage because it's what they are told is a good idea, people go and buy carsnthat are obviously junk and have had the engine destroyed by someone who hasn't got a clue driving like a plum, but will pick it over a car in far better condition because it's got 20k less on the clock.

That is absolute ****ing nonsense and completely naive.

Most of the Mac buyers I've met (and I have met plenty) are buying Macs because they're sick to death of their computers and they want a computer that doesn't make them angry.

You can say what you like about competence and they should learn more and be better people but most real people don't want to have to be experts to have a computer that behaves itself.

Having said that, itunes on Windows is indeed a vile bit of software. I try and avoid it where I can.

I also don't see anybody creating threads bashing companies like Sony. You can buy an equivalently, or better specced notebook for much cheaper than they charge for the Vaio series of laptops, where's the big uproar about that? Or is this mainly because people are annoyed with the stereotypical image of the traditional Apple customer?

I would just like to add to this discussion; iTunes is a horrible piece of software and it doesn't matter if your running it on a PC or Mac.. Same pig, different lipstick :D

Its thinner, lighter has a better camera and higher res screen the 32GB version can be had for less than the Ipad2

Yes, it is thinner and lighter. The only reason is because it's made of plastic, instead of metal. Also, I can find the equivilent iPad 2 32gb for £40 less than the 10.1 (£447 vs £489)

I argue its a flaw to have to mod a device to function the internets correctly.

Flash is a third party software that's slowly being phased out. Either way it's never hindered me on my phone.

1080p video capture?

Ok, you got me. 1080p video on a tablet... something I've never seen anybody use :p

I would take weight, function and fullHD on the go over metal and plastic...

And I would take the smaller one that feels more solid and offers what I would consider a nicer user experience. Either way it's a daft comparison, one is brand new the other is over a year old.

The samsung S2 screen makes the iphone 4 look dated beyond its 12 months release

You mean the considerably lower PPI and resolution screen?

They're both great, I'm not saying they aren't... However you are, and you're wrong :p

THe issue I have with it is people buy the brand, not the spec, if people were more sensible and bought on value,

Most people don't give a toss what cpu or how much ram is in a tablet or phone, what they do care about is how fast they feel and how easy they are to use.

If we all bought on value and specsheet everyone would own the Hanspree Tegra 2 tablet for £150 after rebate, but then we'd all have crap tablets...

the only downside is Apple wouldn't be so overpriced for the spec, and we'd be able to buy Ipad 2's for less money than we do now.

Every equivilent tablet of the same quality (HTC flyer, Tab 10.1 etc.) are priced exactly the same.

Its funny how poeple have completely falied to comment on the amazing camera of the Galaxy S2 that blows chunks all over the Iphone 4 :p ( pics on page 1)

Also full 1080p video which means after testing I can take my phone out on walks with the kids and leave my camcorder at home along with my camera knowing I can in the moment get great quality pics along with having a superb fast multimedia device I carry in my pocket and on't even know its there its so light.

He's generalising alright, but he certainly isn't wrong about all Apple customers. More so with the iPad than iPhone though. The same could be said for Sony, as mentioned. I'm equally against Sony, and the retards who insist on buying their overpriced crap. At least Apple stuff is good overpriced crap.

I think most people are just retarded when it comes to tech. That's why dell and HP are our best selling and least reliable laptops.

Exactly - it's the underdog in people that makes them strike out. It used to be cool to be anti-Microsoft, now it's cool to be anti-Apple.

I'll say this right now, I HEART my Xbox 360. I love it to tiny pieces. I think if Apple tried to make a games console it would be pretty ****ing awful.

I am a genuine MS fan as far as video games go and I don't care who knows it.

But I don't much care for Windows, I don't want to use it, I know it's quite good really, but there's something else I prefer. There's Sony stuff I've got too, and I like that as well.

If someone made a games console that I thought was better than my 360, I'd jump ship. If Apple started making crap computers, I'd jump ship. If Windows became better than Mac OS in my eyes, I'd buy a Windows machine.

I'm not blindly brand loyal, and I don't think most people are.

Why is itunes horrible? I've never had an issue with it

I used it on 64bit Vista and it was horrible, really sluggish and would often stop responding for no reason at all. Then I was given a MacBook for Christmas which has iTunes installed as standard and it's completely different. Rock solid stability, fast and with quite a lot of handy features as well. I recently installed it on a Windows 7 machine and while I didn't like it as much as I did in OSX it's still useable and a big improvement over the version I used in Vista.

Another Easyrider LOL thread.

"I have this, I don't understand why anyone would buy anything else, i'm absolutely perfect!"
"Because of x, y, and z"
"No, you're wrong, i'm right, blahblahblah"

Seriously, it's like having a discussion with Eric Cartman.
