Police 1 - Scumbag 0

Working in that area Burnsy2023 would you prefer he did?
Clearly he has offended at least twice before, and from knowing the system you are doubtful he'll get much.
What should be done to deter future offences?

Prisons are already overcrowded, so we can't afford to put everyone there. Even if we could it often doesn't make much difference to habitual offenders, especially on short sentences. I'm not sure what the answer is tbh

Well banishment to a wee crappy island like antrax island might be an idea for some of them. COld water saves on having to watch for swimmers too. You could drop them off via helicopter, save having to build a runway.
No remission, no wardersyou eat what you grow or catch.

Not serious, but stick a couple of cameras around the place and its basically live battle royale.

Jail time for breaking into someones shed! lol WTF!
Of course he wouldn't and shouldn't be sent to jail!
First offense should result in a caution and warning that next time it's the court room, second time (for the same offense) should be court > fine and/or community service.

However if they have a drug dependency then rather than waste courts time they should offer a drug rehabilitation program in place (obviously with strict attendance criteria)

Well I just popped to the court to see if the warrant had been executed and it hadn't, the funny thing is he is due in court today at 2pm to answer charges for a different offence.

Good entertainment for the night :) It is defiantly amazing how well dog units work. Watched a TV programme on them and is truly remarkable that nose of theirs :)

Longer sentences for prolific offenders.

Maximum sentence is 14 years for burglary. Use it for habitual offenders. When over the wall they can't burgle. It really is that simple.

Great in principle, but where is the prison space to put them? Some prisons are already releasing low risk offenders early to ease overcrowding. We need more prison space, but we don't have the money to build them or the associated costs of keeping them there.

Good result, the police can be very responsive at times, around 5 yrs ago I heard a pop when I was in bed, got up to see a couple of lads walking away from my neighbours car, they'd done his side window. Told my neighbour, rang the police, and we both went looking for them, found one one his own. He was petrified, shaky in his boots when we confronted him, he ran off from us but the police caught him later, I had to ID him in the street, it was amazing how tough he had become when in police custody.

Surprise surprise, he didn't turn up so now another warrant has been issued for his arrest.

He was due in court today for previously breeching his probation order.

I bet they won't do much to him when do catch up with him.

I‘m glad the sniffer dog was able to shed some light on the situation.

Hopefully, the teef is under lock and key now.

:D

Steve Kean, the Blackburn manager who was in court answering a drink drive charge while I was there is back is in Crown Court today.

He has pleased guilty.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14526412

Blackburn Rovers manager Steve Kean has pleaded guilty to drink-driving but has claimed his drink was spiked.

The 43-year-old was charged with being almost twice the legal limit when he failed a breath test after being stopped on the M6 in Cheshire in May.

Kean, of Weybridge, changed his plea to guilty to driving with excess alcohol at Macclesfield Magistrates' Court.

His solicitor said he should be exempt from a driving ban because he claimed he unknowingly broke the law.

The prosecution said Kean, who was stopped on the southbound carriageway of the M6 near Knutsford on 14 May, sped past a police patrol car at 90mph.

His team had been playing Manchester United in the Premier League just hours before.

The officers, who were driving at 50mph, pulled his Mercedes over and breath test recording a level of 65 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms per 100 millilitres of breath.

So he went not guilty, now guilty, but he unknowingly broke the law !?
