Damn my hesitation!!

Hi guys

just an update, Admiral are pursuing them over the claim and I have sent them pictures of the damage, a copy of the letter along with the repair estimate, and a voicemail recording of the other party apologising for the letter and still wanting to settle things outside of the insurance. This in my view is a clear acknowlegement of being involved in the incident, just waiting on someone from Admiral to get back to me.

They are still denying causing the damage.

Hilarious. Why they just didn't settle outside of insurance I just don't know. It's too late for them to settle outside now, should have thought about that before they send that ridiculous letter which confirmed that:

i)They were at the scene
ii)There was an incident
iii)They gave their insurance details to you

The voicemail can only help. I wouldn't worry if I was you mate. Ignore the tards on about paintstripper. Stupid, midless idea which will may well escalate an open/shut insurance case into something nasty.

They gave their personal details, not insurance.

Regardless, you wouldn't give anyone those unless it was for good reason.

Yes you're right...they wouldn't be giving those details over for an insurance claim would they

Not really sure why you felt the need to rolleyes that.

Unless I'm mistaken, insurance details are policy number and insurer?

Just wow at some of the later replies in this thread, especially from people you'd expect were reasonably mature posters. Paintstripper? Really?

** Update **

Admiral have just called, their engineers have reviewed the evidence I submitted and have found in my favour, they are sending out a cheque for the repair and a hire car for the day, all being charged to their policy.

PiKe & TheDean - no need to fall out guys, yes we exchanged details, no not insurance details because she couldn't even remember who she was insured with at the time. I feel a bit of an idiot for assuming I could trust them but all's well that ends well.

:)

I don't think any one was seriously saying that, at least I hope not - definately not my style and would be doubly stupid as we exchanged addresses.

Emotions run high in these situations, I won't broadcast what went through my head when I read that letter, but in most reasonable people thats as far as it goes.

Nice one, what details did Admiral need to work out who the Porsche's insurer was? Did you just take their registration at the scene?

Great result and good to hear! It's reassuring to hear Admiral have their heads screwed on as well being a fellow customer of Admiral :).

between this thread and the motorbike incident a few threads down. in the future, id be inclined to call the police everytime i was involved in a prang just to dissuade the other party from denying it ever happened.

still im glad its been sorted.

Glad it's been resolved.

Just out of interest, why did they leave a voice mail apologising for the letter? Did you send them a reply to their letter which prompted them to do that?
