****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Has anyone noticed that when you open the samsung e-mail application that it says 'refreshing' at the bottom but it doesn't actually transfer any new mail at all until you go to the menu and select refresh?

Also, only played with the phone briefly but IMAP folder handling appears to just not work. There are no settings for mapping folders. This is pretty disappointing, have I made a mistake leaving iOS? Email was great on that.
I've got folders on the default client working fine

hi , just got this , updated to latest firmware using Kies, came from a HTC desire HD, and when viewing bbc iplayer on bbc app and mobile version it stutters and got banding unlike on htc, and also on HTC i would use the full bbc iplayer site by turning off mobile view in browser settings no such setting on s2 ? when i used to watch bbc iplayer on full site on HTC , it was flawless quality was much better then using BBC app or the mobile version, at the moment it seems to be a downgrade ?

anyone help

Thanks

no chance!

Hmm actually, 0.8% per hour in idle = 100 hours = approx 5-6 days potential life solely in idle. However, using it even for 10 mins a day would knock say 5%-10% off of that. I guess 3 days would be doable if you really didn't use the phone other than very sparingly.

alphabetic and numeric order:

K (E) (1)
K (f) (1)
k (F) (3)
kg1 (is it?) just got leaked, brings 2.3.4, but isnt "official"

kies updates to kf3 :)

I can get a lot less than 0.8% in idle ;)

(only if i have email sync off mind)

With email sync off, I can go to bed with 100%, wake up 7hrs later and still have 99%
With email sync on, I can go to bed with 100% and wake up 7hrs later with 85%-90% :/

Im currently at 97% after 10hrs 36mins (mainly on standby obviously)

when you say idle what do you mean? if you get 3 days out of i would suggest you dont bother buying such a good handset cos you clearly don't use it..

lol...

i've been able too do it..

everybody uses the phone in different ways,

i use my phone about 30-40 minutes per day for sms , light gaming, web browsing, ect.

u can't compare battery lifes because some people have more background programs running than others, also using different brightness settings, ect

but as i said im really not bothered if u believe or not.

Anyone here get a robotic sounding woman voice saying "1 new emails" or "2 new emails" when new email arrives? I do, it's very cool and useful. I can't remember how it came to be, if it's default or something I did or installed.

Got mine this morning, no Virgin mobile bloatware that i've found so far which is good. Updated firmware using KIES and downloaded a few apps. Any good ones? I don't particularly want to root it or anything at the moment though.

Also I transferred some photos and music from my old phone via bluetooth and now the music player has taken one of the photos and tagged it to the music I transferred over. Lets just say this photo is a private one (not of me!), how can I 'untag' the photo?

I also can't find a way to make a MP3 clip i copied via bluetooth into my message tone. it gives me an option for phone, caller or alarm. Can it be done?

When I say idle, I mean the phone is in deep sleep mode. If you are away from a power source for any reason, having forgotten to bring a portable power pack etc, then it can be a lifesaver having a phone with an uber-efficient sleep mode. Ive been to more then one festival where i've had to only use my phone a minute or two at a time for fear of it dying on me.

Either way stop being such a big girls blouse just because you don't agree with the way someone chooses to use their phone on occasion, you've thrown more sulks and hissy fits in this thread than anyone ive yet seen. :p
