Motorola Xoom successor to have a quad core CPU and 2048X1536 screen?

quad core CPU and 2048X1536 screen - now were talking. Now get samsung to make the screen using PLS tech (highly unlikely)

In the US perhaps but nobody with any sense will buy one outside US. Moto support is totally crap. The farce with software updates for nonUS Xoom's is a joke and Moto aren't talking at all.

I'll never be buying anything Moto ever again.

Indeed, similar situation with the Xoom. Non-US Xoom's aren't GED so they don't get the updates from Google like US versions do.

They released zero info on when 3.1 was coming to non US devices prompting the 115+ page thread on the Moto forums. The Asus Transformer came out and got 3.1 almost immediately which caused even more upset and they have come out and simply said "We are rolling 3.1 out over the next several weeks with SD card support".

Over a month later there is still no sign of 3.1, now 3.2 is out and Asus are already testing it but no word from Moto and they still only tell the hundreds of customers on their forums/facebook/twitter etc etc that they will release more info "when it is available". It's pretty pathetic service imo, they should either say it's coming around x date/month or say it isn't coming at all which is looking more and more likely.
 
Its a motorola - still rubbish ;)

I'm still waiting for a decent screen to be able to playback HD movies before I take the plunge for a tablet - HURRY UP KAL-EL!
 
This is not a Motorola support thread. If you want to whinge about Motorola perhaps starting another thread would be a better idea.

I am more interested in the fact that this is the first Android tablet which seems to have a high resolution screen,a quad core CPU and probably a decent GPU. If Motorola is working on such a device hopefully it means other companies are doing so ATM.

The iPad3 is going to have a high resolution display too. Perhaps,its time more Android tablets started to come out with such displays too and greater GPU power.

Imagine if an Android tablet with a 2048X1536 screen,fast dual core and a decent GPU had already been released now?? It would have definitely given Android tablets a bit more of a "wow" factor.

ATM,too many of the Android tablets seem reactionary and only the Asus Eee Transformer seems to be trying to do something different.

It's still relevant though, people might see the thread and think "oh I'll wait and get one". It's not just hardware people are interested in.

This thread is about the hardware and not the software. If you want to complain about the Motorola Xoom software and indeed the software of many current Android tablets perhaps you should start another thread.

Loads of companies have produced buggy products and even companies like Apple,Samsung and HTC are not immune to it. Even one of my old HTC smartphones had issues with the screen(design fault).

In fact the Eee Transformer seems to be the best supported Android tablet ATM and is the one which seems to have the quickest fixes from what I gather. Even the Samsung Galaxy Tab of which millions have been sold is not having an Android 3.0 update. The short lived Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1V also launched with Android 3.0 and the 3.1 update seems to be slow in coming. Even the latest Galaxy Tab models have Android 3.1 on them still.

According to sarge78 the official ROM is available on xda-developers:

You can use a Mac compatible tool to flash your phone with the ROM. It might be also worth checking if the update is available OTA from your phone.

There are also leaked 2.3.4. ROMs also starting to appear too.

I'm sorry but I have to join in with the rant. I was one of the mugs who purchased a WiFi Xoom. All other tablet devices have long been upgraded to Honeycomb 3.1 and now even 3.2. However any Xoom outside the US still hasn't been upgraded, it's a disgrace. This will be my first and last ever Motorola device.


Any one considering buying a Motorola product should think once, think twice, then run as fast as they can.

This is a discussion forum and people are discussing Motorola which is completely on topic and relevant to the thread title. If you think any of the posts are breaking the forum rules then report them, if you don't like the forum rules then perhaps starting another forum of your own would be a better idea.

The Galaxy Tab can't have an Android 3.0 update as Android 3.0 doesn't support 7 inch devices.

There are some very alpha ports by enthusiasts but we were talking about manufacturer support, as sarge says 3.2 has 7 inch screen support but I'm not sure if Samsung will bother considering the Tab will be a year old soon. The HTC Flyer will hopefully get an update though.
