Yes ll points 1-7 are sorted on the SGS2. Great camera which is sharp with great colour. Light metering is very good on the video camera. Loudspeaker is loud. Proxitmity sensor works without any issues. Battery life is great. Screen in sunglist is legible. Gps lock and works fine. :)

urgh. Every time I make a call there is a large speaker crackle before connecting.
 
I'd say the DHD screen is marginally better in sunlight if you're on auto brightness. SAMOLED+ isn't really that good in sunlight, not as good as I had hoped anyway but it's not an issue.

Other than that, it's pretty terrible in comparison. :p
 
It came this morning. :D i have my screen 100% brightness on all phones so the sunlight thing isnt too bad.

Touchwiz isnt as bad i thought it would be! The speed improvments are very noticeable.

Time to ebay the DHD.

They way i see it is they put such nice screens in phones why not use there full potential. With the SGSII 100% brightness is a little too bright

i hate it when my mate gives me his Desire and he has 30% brightness what a waste :eek:
 
I like a bright screen but 100% indoors is too bright for me. Normally for me its 25% in doors - 50% if a bright in doors - 100% outdoors daytime.

Remember you have the screen brightness and you also have 3 screen settings that you can use too.

You can use ES File Explorer on the phone to do it all via the phone too.

Hi guys, have been playing with my SGS2 (first android phone) a bit now.

First off I rooted it so that I could use an app to fool KIES into thinking I had an unbranded phone. This meant I could update to the latest unbranded EU firmware through KIES. Sweet. I haven't re-rooted since as I have no interest in custom FW at present.

I have noted my Vodafone handset isn't locked to Vodafone, I haven't unlocked anything unless the above somehow effected it?

I have setup a seperate Gmail account to handle work emails through. I setup this new Gmail account as IMAP in thunderbird and it was a doddle to migrate my emails over to this new account. So I am happy with the email functionality now.

I have started to play around with the other stock app's. The Memo app looks useful as I am always having to scribble down, well, notes. Is there a means to display this as some sort of widget? There is a post-it note style widget by default but it's not linked to the Memo app.

Think that's it for now but I shall have more queries no doubt.

Oh, I picked up the mesh case for £12.95 in P4U too.
 
i use auto brightness. no way could i be botehred to keep changing it when i go inside, outside etc. auto as well means it's as low as possible in middle of night.

tesla: might be worth trying evernote app. i think it has a widget setting as well can sync online and other extras. never properly used it myself as found making notes is something my brain doesn't need to do :p
 
Guys, I have the tools I need now, ODIN and i9100XXKG1.zip to flash my phone to 2.3.4. What do I need to backup my SMS, emails, gmail, google and samsung accounts settings, general phone settings, etc, as I assume they'll get wiped? Apps I'm not too bothered, I'll make a list then redownload.
 
Just noticed but why do i only have 11GB of storage when its advertised as 16GB? i know you never get the full 16GB due to how the file system is set up but 5GB short seems odd.

Any ideas?
