Thanks to this thread I've found some new bands and I'm going to continue to listen to Death Metal, Thrash Metal, Death Core, Slam Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal and whatever the Hell else I have because I love it.

Currently listening to:

Deal with it OP, and thanks.

A bit OT, but have you heard of Ghost of a Thousand and The Bronx? Two of my favourite 'screamy' bands. I'm a bit like you in that the rest of the song needs to be pretty melodic for me to like harsher vocals

But he's talking about metal, not punk....

Ghost of a Thousand though :( RIP. Hopefully see their last show at Hevy.

lol I love electronic dance music in all it's forms so much so there isn't much else I listen to these days but I shall never, ever forget my late child and early teens music listening to Metallica, Soundgarden etc. Might not be the proper heavy dark metal stuff but I loved it all the same. Rebellious, noisy and it was all with live instruments etc.

When I hear a good metal track on the radio I can't help but turn it up and rock out to it !!

Could have posted that myself!

Dissing Cannibal Corpse = ! The Barnes era stuff does sound a bit dated, and Paul's drumming isn't up there with some of more famous exponents of death metal, but they're like the Slayer of death metal (Morbid Angel have to be the Metallica, especially given their latest album being their St Anger)! Veering toward self-parody a bit these days, but they churn out memorable songs and riffs consistently. As a guitar player I'd rather learn a load of CC songs over someone like Suffocation or Dying Fetus. It's just.... more fun.

Instrumental song for the dislike-growls crowd:

Inflicting at least two songs from every album with Fisher in, in chronological order, because I can. :D

Sure, they release basically the same album over and over, but that's part of the appeal!

thought you learned not to **** off other peoples musics taste after recieving a few beatings in the 70's............

Learn to read - post #207

It's a very straight forward question.
You hate metal, people keep posting videos which must be more hell because you're into music like 2 Pac.

And where did I get beat?

You misunderstand - I'm into 2 Pac (not as much as Eminem though).

I'll repeat:
Why are you trying to educate somebody who is into 2 Pac?

who is somebody trying to educate you or me seeing as you are into 2Pac...........and lol let me guess you think Eminem Is better than 2pac, thats another thread but if so lol..........just lol

I was buying Tupac's records before you were born - I prefer Eminem but I didn't say he was better.

of course you were mate

and you prefer Eminem meaning you think in your opinion he is better.

B&W you can prefer an artist whilst still accepting another is more (or was more, in this case) technically gifted. A bit like appreciating how difficult and complex heavier metal can be even if you dont like it.

I guess thats something you just dont understand though.

People listen to music for different reasons. You listen to Tupac for a very different reason than a most other music (at least his decent stuff anway).

It's the same with some extreme metal music. If you're listening to stuff like Meshuggah, expecting a catchy sing along song, you'll almost certainly be disappointed. I listen to Meshuggah from a technical point of view, following the rhythmic style of their music, the drumming patterns and how they interact with the odd time signature subdivisions of the guitars - it's almost hypnotic to me.

As for the vocals in metal music, to put it simply, treat it as just another instrument and it will make a lot more sense.

How would B&W fair in one of these pits with the dregs of society? :D

Can anyone imagine clean vocals with a song like this? no no no.

Metal is only getting bigger and bigger, the sheer number of awesome UK metal bands is astonishing.

argh the ignorance of the OP is killing me :p

"OMG this music doesn't sound similar to most music I've heard before... therefore I must dislike it" : The thought process of most people who 'dislike' metal. Simple minded FOOLS!
