Number porting

You can order the phone and port later. The PAC code is usually valid for up to 30 days or so after the date of issue.

As above - check with the network you are moving to as some insist you provide them the MAC at time of purchase. AFAIK Vodafone are the only ones that let you port it at anytime.

I didn't say ALL I said some and I only mentioned Vodafone specifically as it's the only network I was sure about. I also stated he should check each network - maybe you could do have a look at T-Mobile and O2 while you're at it ? :p

I don't work for the others though :( . All networks support this and don't charge for it and all their websites back this up and none claim it has to be done before X. OFCOM forced the issue after networks started working out they could contain people on their networks indefinitely by not letting them port.

Fair enough - maybe the rules have changed since I last ported a number. I've been with T-Mobile for many years now so haven't ported in a while.

I'm sure Vodafone only allowed it when you were starting your contract, seems to have changed now judging by their help pages though.
