Alcohol Dilemma - Plastic Bottles

It'll be fine, my stash of booze from last years Sonisphere is still alright! :D Careful if you've got any sweeter liquers though - the bottle tops tend to get stuck on! :(

Also I think I may have shared the same pain as you on Friday night. Drank 2 litres of Cosmopolitan plus shots of an undetermined nature :D

Hey, I challenge anyone on here to drink that much over 4 hours and not feel peaky the next day! :p

Peaky "next day was mostly spent in my tent trying not to die" are quite different :p. And I'm sorry to tell you but 5 cans and half a bottle of vodka is sod all. That's a light pre-drink. I'm not judging, nor am I saying "look how much I can drink, I'm so cool" I just find it surprising that many people on here can't seem to handle very much alcohol. Shayper is going to get a shock when he comes up :).

Well, 40oml (the 1l bottle of vodka went) is the equivalent of 8 doubles in a bar, and when I said 5 pints, I meant 5 pints.

8 doubles and 5 pints is more than enough for me, I played with fire and I got very badly burnt! :o

Fair enough. Perhaps I'm just so used to seeing people sitting on the bus drinking can after can of Super at 9am... One of the first times I got drunk it was on Special, bleugh, still managed 4 of them though ;).
Come up to the meet, and we'll show you how to drink :D.

Well, whatever. For the majority of people that is a lot to drink and a fairly unhealthy amount to drink. Still, that's the joys of our hilariously irresponsible drinking culture. Go go gadget liver disease!

Well done?

You are either lying or have a problem - 5 cans and half a bottle of vodka is about 25 units, which is enough for the vast majority of the population to at least feel pretty damn awful the next day.

Not sure if you read Ahleckz's full post but he wasn't saying he easily drank that much for bravado reasons. It would be nigh on impossible for him to post what he did without it coming across as "I can drink gallons without a problem".

I am the same as Ahleckz though in that I drink a lot albeit once a week. I don't do it to impress anyone but I work my arse off during the week so why can't I chill with some mates on a Friday night in the manner I want when I don't cause problems to anyone else?

Do I have a drink problem? Nope, there are weeks where I don't touch a drink nor do I NEED a drink, but I enjoy a drink and I cause no hassle to anyone else whilst I do so.

I am pretty fed up with getting branded with the idiots that get drunk and start fighting or staggering about puking up everywhere just because of how much I drink. I don't do any of this yet I am seen as a problem by certain blinkered idiots.

p.s. Ahleckz - Everyone knows that the Southern softies can't handle their drink :p

Exactly this.
I can't remember the last time I threw up, got into a fight, caused anyone hassle, or did anything that people associate with 'drunks' (and before anyone says it, no it wasn't because I'm always hammered, har har). I drink because I enjoy it. I'm not a 'lout', and just because I can happily drink a few cans in an evening and then half a bottle of vodka, go out dancing and have a few more drinks and then go home at 3am without incident doesn't mean I have a problem. I'm quite aware of how much I can handle and I (usually) stick within that.

And you're right, the Southerners are a bunch of pansies huh? ;)

I've noticed that you seem to be on a bit of a crusade against people that drink. Why is it? For a start, it's my own body and secondly I have liver tests very regularly and therefore I'm quite aware if it is unhealthy to my body or not.

Well done?

Wasn't gloating, as I said. And why would I lie and secondly in what way do I have a problem? I enjoy drinking, I do it socially with friends to have fun (as well as doing numerous non drinking activities) as well as alone to relax and unwind after a hard time. Yea, I get hangovers but I accept them and move on with my life. Finally, my job is all about driving. If I was a drunk, do you really think I or my employers would allow this?

Not really... I drink myself, but not in the trendy binge drinking sense. I drank shedloads this saturday just gone as part of a 40th wedding anniversary do... Champagne, wine, beer, brandy. However, this took place of about 12 hours with loads of food interspersed and was part of a social engagement the chief purpose of which was not getting drunk.

That, however, is a world apart from defending "5 pints and half a bottle of vodka" in 4 hours as a "pre-drink".

Last weekend I went to a festival and took a rather large stash of drink, which I decanted into plastic bottles.

Sadly, due to such excessive drinking on the first day, I couldn't stomach drinking any more and nor could my company, so I returned home with said plastic bottles, which have been sat in my room.

Yesterday I was told that alcohol isn't stored in plastic because it takes away the chemicals and makes it undrinkable, or worse, toxic (not that alcohol isn't that anyway!).

I have since decanted half of it back into a wine bottle, but there is still more to go.

Have I left it too late or will it be fine?

Thanks :)

EDIT - I am referring to 40% spirits.

And you have a degree in the biological sciences?

Not sure if he was asking it to be defended in any way but that also doesn't mean he was looking for it to be attacked neither. He quite blatantly stated that, before he said how much he drank, that it wasn't a gloat of any kind. He simply used it to explain why he found it a mystery that someone has a 2 day hangover from 5 cans of beer and a 1/2 bottle of spirits.

I have to agree with him. I have drank much more than this in a 4 hour period and was fine the next day but then thankfully I do not suffer from hangovers. I am not proud of how much I drank, in fact I think it was an obscene amount, but it was due to a certain atmosphere I was in.

As I said, it would be nigh on impossible to query why someone has had such a bad hangover from (dependant on opinion/experience) what was a small amount of alcohol without someone else saying you drink obscenely as they realise that person drinks much more even if they don't say it directly.
