If you had £8000 to spend on a car, what would it be?

I saw the posts after yours Dr. Pain and thought you were talking about an MG SV, but no, you are talking about an MG ZT. Wow. There are leagues of cars better than it.

Why do you keep pretending the Rover 75 V8 didnt exist?

lol, I dont, but yes you have a point, but I would counter that and say the 75 V8 is so far removed from the original 75 that perhaps it should have been called something else.

I do however take your point, and agree to an extent, but I was only referring to the MG in this case and not the horrific Rover 75 V8, which I despise. They even hid the rear exhausts on the 75 V8.

Anyhow, I havent got the energy for pedantic arguing, so I shall bow out of this thread and let it continue with peoples £8k buys!

Perhaps when I purchase the 260 I will post up some clips and vids, but until that day.... Ive gotta work on my health.

Cheers fellas.

No worries, I shall add you my ignore list and then I definitely wont "get mad bro".

So in summary:

Rover fanboi comes on bleating about how much he'd love a Rover 75 with stick-on tat.

Gets pwnt by entire forum.

Gets butthurt.

Discovers ignore list.

Cool story bro.

Ok last post..!!!

Yep, I know, its even flawed to the extent where the transmission tunnel takes up so much space there is nowhere to rest your clutch foot.

Its just about the V8, RWD, noise, and to a certain extent the poor image and stealth factor.

In standard form, the engine is rubbish, but it makes you grin, and its literally bullet proof. Takes 50,000 miles for it to free up for gods sake! Im sure there are more advance engines in tractors.

Funny that.

Why? It's a Rover 75 - a product of MG Rover Group. Just like the MG ZT.

MG was simply a marketing exercise by Rover. A good one, I agree, but a marketing excercise all the same. The cars are all Rovers, they just rightly realised that the Rover name had zero sporting credentials so used MG for the sporting versions of the Rover product line.

MG is to Rover what S-Line is to Audi, ST is to Ford, VXR is to Vauxhall, Sport and M Sport are to BMW, GTI is to Volkswagen, and so on and so forth.

MG ZT is the best way they could think of to market what was, in reality, a Rover 75 Sport.

Oh dear... trolling I see. The MG ZT 260 is not a Rover with stick on tat. If thats TRUELY what you think, then I can only feel embarrassed on your behalf.

RIGHT, outta here, lets get this thread back on track.

Good discussion though, must do again.

You keep on banging on at these points like it is the words only V8 powered RWD saloon car. You can get a V8, RWD, noise, a 'poor image' () and stealth factor for a fraction of the cost of the 75

Ironic that its actually more powerful that the mighty V8 75. Probably better built too :p

Also, answer me this. Is a 2.0 TFSI Quattro A3 so far removed from a base model 1.2 SE A3 that it should be called something else? After all, it has a different engines, different drivetrain, different suspension, etc

the full 8k will secure a nice E39 540i. That's way nicer than any ZT.

The owner of this A was pulled over by the cops in the 60's and done for the out of date license tags and a broken side window. In disgust, he drove it into a barn in Cali, parked it up and didn't touch until a couple of weeks ago. It's now on these shores and up for way less than £8K:

Enough budget for a flathead V8 and box. I am tempt :D

Yeah, cos a 1993 rotbox really compares with a 2005/2006 late ZT..

Way to miss the point.

Wow its more powerful wooo, cos power is everything right? I think as you mature you will find that your tastes and your driving habits change.

I make no excuses for feeling middle aged when it comes to cars now!

My days of turbo'd modded nutter boxes are well and truly over. The way the ZT 260 handles is perfect for me. Sporty-ish, but oh so comfortable to cruise in.

Obviously its different strokes for different folks, so best to leave it there really, and I did earlier because I couldnt help myself when I saw the utter turd that you linked to. lol.

Over and out, motors is way too childish and pedantic. Its really rather tiring to even read the nonsense, which is a shame, as normally forums are meant to be light hearted and relaxing! I'm sticking to computer stuff and the randomness of GD.

A nice example of an E36 M3. Don't really care whether it'd be an Evolution or not, just a good car that's not been owned by any morons.

It'd have to be either in Dakar yellow or Santorini blue (rare colour, but looks fantastic).
