There really does need to be some rules in unions, whereby the guys running them both get a limited salary and don't make extra the more they get when negotiating contracts and striking.

Union bosses are concerned with THEIR bottom line not with their unions members, which is why they so frequently recommend completely ridiculous action.

Then again members of the union should be more careful in who the allow to be in charge and how they vote for things like how much the bosses get paid.

No different to any other business, guys at the top are interested(mostly) in lining their own pockets and don't give a crap about anyone else.

The thing I hate about unions is how they were started to fight against that kind of thinking and try and keep employee's being treated fairly, but that went out of the window so long ago its a joke.

The thing is, the guy is already rich, so the £500k would be better off being split between lower paid workers as bonus money. They could use e.g. £1000 better than an exec using £500k. I mean, at age 66, it's not like he's going to use £500k to start his own business or suchlike is it?

Who cares what they get paid? It's their job which I would assume they have worked hard to get and have probably made some personal sacrifices to get there (perhaps not all)

If we were all paid the same or earnings/bonuses were capped where would the ambition and drive to get to the top come from?? Oh and don't come out with the whole love of the job rubbish, this is the real world and money makes people tick despite what they say.

I don't care about the money, I care about the hypocrisy that seems to be a requirement at the top end of trade unions. Massive pay offs, pension contributions bigger than your workers average annual earnings, taking council housing when you earn £150k a year, free accommodation for life...

It seems to me that the biggest exploitation of workers these days is within the trade unions who claim to be helping them...

Seriously I don't understand how people like you can function unless you are self sufficient on you own freeholding growing your own food with no job (I'm assuming this is not the case seeing as you have Internet access/money to use an Internet cafe)

I think the real reason people get so aggy over these sorts of things is because they a jealous and/or are in a crap job themselves.
