Hmm be careful about wanting it too high. Looks like there may be a half second delay atm which is about right. More than enough time for you to blow the dolphin diver away if you both round a corner at the same time.

Any longer and you'll be swearing your own head off when you go prone and watch someone appear, crouch, have a smoke, read a paper and then blow your head off while you're helpless.

1/2 a second to get down in a dive? Ok I can buy that. But half a second to get up??

Cmon, you try it holding something with 2 hands from prone (without kit on your back) and see how long it takes you.

They could get a real soldier to actually do it and time the thing and then put that time in the game (perhaps making it a tad quicker for gameplay sakes)

That would be an acceptable solution.

To me it is about cutting out the obvious gameplay mechanics that can be exploited. Namely, dolphin diving, quick scoping, and no scoping. Quick scoping should be done away with, no scoping should come with a huge accuracy penalty. Those scopes are there for a reason for snipers after all.

We have already had the realistic SIM / ARMA 2 discussion. BF3 will be somewhere between the comedy that is COD and ARMA 2.

yeah long range shots.

Remember snipers are expert marksmen, if assaults are so skilled they have a mental cross-hair when firing blindly from the hip the sniper should have a virtual bullseye pasted to his targets face.

No scoping already is very inaccurate though anything over 10 feet is pretty tricky and you have to learn to get the feel for it.

Basically if you let a no scoping recon get close enough to shoot you point blank you deserve to die.

That's the thing you see, we have the casual player that basically don't care how the game plays or what features are missing that aid gameplay and what features are in that kill gameplay, then you have the community like me who actually care and have been loyal battlefield fans over the years and want to see BF3 be the best it can be.

Dice say they listen to the community so why should we play sheep and shut up when there is glaring problems with the game. If the BF2 community just shut up, BF2 would be in a sorry mess now but because Dice listened the last few patches for BF2 were great and addressed a lot of issues the community had with the game and this benefits them casual players as well becuase they get a better game out of it.

If we all sheep and shut up as you put it we would end up with the game quality of the current COD standard.

they are game design professionals, are you? you act like you know it all, how do you know there are problems with this unreleased product? have you played it? what do you know?

If its not been mentioned there is a feature called suppression. If you or squad keep firing on enemy bunkered in then they get supressed and their screens start to become blurry.

This I like. A lot.

Imagine..... sniper in bunker / behind wall, totally wasting your squad. You spam the area with suppressing fire, not hitting the sniper, but making it a lot harder for your team to be taken out, while one guy runs around and drops some nades into the area. Or just jumps over and gets all stabby stabby.

Immense.

I'm part of the community that have provided feedback and even had some of my thoughts regarding BF2 balance addressed in the last patch for BF2, the blackhawk guns and the dark TV guided HUD for the choppers to help see on maps like dragon valley were my suggestions. Dice are not perfect and they do no always make the perfect game as seen by the numerous patches to address balance issues and bugs for previous battlefields. They have alpha tests and betas for a reason, to get feedback and players thoughts on things like balance and features, I'm seeing things that are currently in BF3 that detract form gameplay and hinder teamplay, these may not be addressed for retail release but in a patch somewhere down the line when the community lets Dice know what's wrong with their game. It does not hurt to let Dice know what the community thinks.

I like the sound of that supression effect a lot!

What does make me laugh though is the fickle nature of the BF crowd.

People were falling over themselves laughing at how MW3 was just a reskin of MW2/MW, and yet now here we are after people have actually played BF3, and they are saying it is just like BC2 so much so it should indeed be BC3.

It's this kind of attitude I find most annoying.

This game is shaping up to be quite nice though and should be a nice companion to MW3 come Christmas time.

So because you lack the skill to hit him they other guy should be punished by making his screen blurry because you miss?

Hit them their screen goes blurry, miss them their screen goes blurry, may was well just play with Vaseline over the screen.
