So because you lack the skill to hit him they other guy should be punished by making his screen blurry because you miss?

Hit them their screen goes blurry, miss them their screen goes blurry, may was well just play with Vaseline over the screen.

woah... steady dude :p

I was thinking of how much like a particular scene out of saving private ryan this particular feature would be.

I'm a HUGE BF2 fan, and Project Reality fan. I am more than capable of shooting at a sniper, no need to say I lack skill based on my description of a visually stunning and atmospheric scene ;)

Do you not think it would add a good tactical element to the game though? Or do you think it'll be rubbish, and 'over blurry' / happen to often etc etc etc. If implemented correctly, I can see it being pretty cool to be honest.

I agree and disagree with the spotting system in BC2/BF3. On the one hand it promotes teamwork, lets face it - it's tough to recreate the "the enemy is behind the wall on the right below the tower near the water, start shooting him" that you might get in real life with soldiers on radios and such but equally if the enemy ducks down and goes behind another structure or down into a sewer etc then the spotting should not work such that you can go to the other end of the sewer and just wait untill he comes up, knowing exactly where he is for every step he takes.

The spotting should be "last known position" not some random amount of time. Also, in SQDM mode, the spotting should only work for your squad and not for all the others - the times I've spotted someone and the entire map turns and shoots stealing the kill away from me or my team, or indeed been spotted myself and come under intense fire from 3 other squads!

Sounds like it will be last known position, which is awesome news :)

Also I wanna see a video of some suppression! Why is no one in any of these alpha videos playing as support gunner?!?

Tbh as someone has said, it sounds like the 3d spotting will only mark the target while in view by one of your team, but if they duck out of sight behind cover the marker will just stay on the cover, ARMA 2 style.

Problem? Play HC ^^

From the alpha footage it works exactly like it does in BC2 as in it follows the enemy even when they are behind cover, and HC has enough balance issues of its own, instant kills all the time is not fun and it's wookie heaven, teamplay goes out the window in HC and everyone camps.

3D hacking off should be the server default setting, if you want it on then switch it on.:o

Its already been said, you don't know the location of the person whos doing the spotting in those vids. He could be at an angle where he can still see the player he's spotting so the tag obviously isn't going to disappear.

unless of course they've been spotted by someone other than the one filming who can still see them.

Matters not, should not be in a PC BF, it's an aim assist and looks stupid. Just because someone else spots this does not give you the right to see the enemy moving in complete darkness and behind things, you want this then go buy a wall hack. Why do we need this? what's wrong with just a mini map spot, do PC gamers need floating triangles on screen to register kills, I think not.

No, it would only add a tactical element if you where all on a team that was using voice coms so you could say "that guy over there is suppressed go round the right and kill him" which is what happens on mumble now "I've got him pinned behind that wall go round and get him" so tactically it changes nothing.

Unless it puts a big yellow triangle over their head saying "I'm suppressed flank me!" then your random pub team-mates won't know and even if they did if they aren't flanking now why in gods name do you think they will then?

The only thing this effect does is make it harder for the suppressed guy to kill his suppressor it doesn't encourage team work and it wont promote flanking it purely compensates for someone pinning him down and him being good enough to pop out find the spammer and kill him before the spammer can control his recoil and hit him.

if it's i nit will be a pointless blurry filter that will affect anyone rushing most of the time due to the bullets flying al lover the place.

but tbh i expect it to be removed and turned into purely a "suppression" points bonus for the player suppressing and no visual effect.

Tbh i think the visual effect might even be gone by the beta let alone release.

I dont think they will remove the effect Tefal, it sounds like a step in the right direction and having played games with suppression in I find it really does add another tactical element to the game and does actually make flanking a more valid tactic than it is currently.

interesting points, I agree with most of that as it maketh the sense :)

Although with no voice comms, if I saw a support guy spamming a bunker wall where I knew a sniper was, I'm sure most of us would feel safer about leaping out and dealing with said sniper.

Points for suppressing are very good though - definitely needs to be the case IMO.

Anyway, no need to **** my skills... :p

I don't agree its an "aim assist", do you 'snap' to target when someone has been spotted? If they are behind cover, you'll just waste ammo spamming in their direction. However, if you're team mates have spotted an emeny in the open - wouldn't you want to know about it? Again, this should be last known position and not trackable through buildings etc as per my previous post.

Did I read rightly earlier on in the thread about the ability to counter someone who is just about to knife you?

That would be awsome!

Looks to me they are adding in little touches, which might take BF3 in to a new era of fps, which all future fps will have to meet in the future. (A benchmark in other words)

that sounds disturbingly like quicktime events.

but from what it looks liek the 1 hit insta kill knife from behind has a long animation but i think they mentioned non quick knife from the front.

wonder if it will be more like css in that knife from behind = 1 hit kill
knife from the front = 2 + hits needed.

read this also - but not sure if official or not.

which would be good - hope it's a seperate weapon (ala BF2 / CS) and not 'hit V' like cod...
