Today I picked up the following:

Carrera S PDK 2009
29km
Bose

Having had a quick blast in it this morning I can't stop smiling.

PS - Gibbo - you were partly to blame!

Looks lovely in white! The more I look at these the more I think that cutting the roof off is wrong. Such a good angle on the roof shot there. I had my heart set on a convertible 911, hmmm.

Which are the good 911 convertibles as stated by Clarkson on Top Gear, is it just the later 997 turbo cab or are they all reinforced and still very very good?

@Gibbo - sadly no PSE or X51 goodies though reading your posts I am sorely tempted to have them put on at the next service in 6k km. The car has been nicely specced - so bose, sport chrono, sun roof, PCM (no nav - worthless in Dubai), PDK, Carrera II S alloys, painted front bumper, two tone terracotta/black interior, 12 way power seats with driver memory package, rear parking sensors, window tints and a few aluminium interior extras.

The chap I bought it from (another British Expat) had owned it from new, put 4 new tires on it and it still has 5 months extended warranty on it (800 quid a year here to renew)

I paid a shade above 40k sterling - for the year and condition I though that this was pretty good. Turns out that 911s in the private sector here are good value - I just missed out on a Targa 4s 2009 23k km (Black/Red interior with good option list) was going for 48k from a local indy dealer.

Anyhow - I am keen to continue to read about your adventures with your C2S!

@tom_nieto - thanks mate! White cars are also a good choice in Dubai as they are cooler (not by much) in the hot sun

Damn that is mental cheap money, a 2009 PDK here in the UK are still in the 60-70k region, why are they so cheap out there?

@Gibbo and @MrLoL - the chap originally paid 67k sterling for the car already a considerable saving on the UK price. There are a couple of reasons.

1. No VAT here - the cars are coming from Europe then with a 5% import duty only
2. A lot of people tend to own a car for a couple of years from new and are desperate to offload them as the population is transitory
3. There are a lot of 911s and porsches in general on the second hand market

This all leads to decent value second hand - at 60-70k no way would I have brought it.

Interestingly you will not get a penny discount at the dealer on a new porsche here . Though with the impending 991 coming their existing 911 stock (mostly GTS and Turbo S) all had three years warranty AND a three year service package which has been unheard of in Dubai for Porsche.

I was sorely tempted by an 07 Turbo which was going for only 36k sterling with 63k km on the clock but the interior was super tatty (scratched leather seats, worn knobs, broken boot catch) and it would have made me cry each time I got in it....however it did sound immense.

Maybe next time....

I suppose the demand is too high being dubai.

Leading to an excess of 2nd hand models on the market as all the oil bajillionaire's trade in for new models :)
