Marvell 9128 or Intel Sata 2 controller for Sata 6GB SSD's ???

Hi all

I've been running my Vertex 3 SSD for a month now on a Sata 3 Marvell 6gb 9128 controller and I've been thinking about trying it out on the Sata 2 Intel controller on my x58 motherboard. Manly because of lack of trim and other small issues that have arisen.

I just wondering how many of you that have a 6gb SSD and are in the same boat as me with only the Marvell as a 6gb controller have stuck with it?

If you moved on to the sata 2 Intel ports what did you think and did the drop in speed make a noticeable difference ??

I'm using Elmcrest 510 on Marvel controller of R3E but i'm using the microsoft driver instead of the marvel driver to enable TRIM. I also scheduled the Intel Toolbox to run weekly.

Whaaaat Marvell 9128 chips don't have trim?

Are all P55A chipsets that crap? (the 1st gen i5 boards with sata3/usb3 support).

If you use the marvel driver, the Intel tool box will not run.

How do you mean by the 'marvel driver'? Do you mean the actual driver that you install or the Sata 3 port itself?
