Hi from Scotland

How much would it cost to change ?
Thanks Murray <3

I am not building this myself..... I know a local shop and a friend :)

I've been asking a gaming forum if the machines you've been giving me would run GTA and stuff, and one of them pointed this out..

Just to tell you, haha, just because you have an intel processor, you don't have to buy nvidia aswell. Intel and AMD Graphics are perfeclty ompatible, same with AMD and nvidia. If I was you, I'd go with a hexacore, i.e. Intel i7 or AMD Phenom II X6 T1100, though.

For a start you can tell them they are wrong, HEx cores (as in 6) are only utilized in encoding and stuff liek that, for gaming they are no better, in fact they are inferior to a top end phnom II X4 (4 cores) simply because there are not many games that utilize all 6 cores.
Trust me on this, im new to pc building too, i built my first one 2 weeks ago and it was a piece of pie :)

you will want to go intel, they have the best gaming CPU's on the market at the moment.
Intel i5 2500k is the best out so far, i7 260k is slightly worse in some aspects of gaming, see hex core argument above...

motherboard, you can spend as little as a £100 or go thee xtra £50 and get one with lots of features, but would you use them?

I suggest this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-051-AK&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1990
or this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-443-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1906 is a little more, but for a lot more features i.e. bluetooth, usb 3.0 bracket more connectivity ect

as for graphics, i suggest a nvidia GTX 560Ti

It is true what they say that you dont have to have Nvidia with intel, or amd with ati, it makes no difference, it comes down to which games you play and what brand the developers prefer (i think?)

Case, in my opinnion? you should get the coolermaster storm enforcer

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-235-CM&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=29

For £80 with front panel usb 3 wich connects internally, 7 + 1 expansion, 200mm fan, and another one in the roof, brilliant value for money, but i understand its not for everyone.

PSU is up to you, go for a branded one, modular if you can, that alows you to only use the cbles you need this saving space increasing airflow.

This is just me, i would pick:

Great vallue for what it is and has been accepted in various reviews

Windows 7 and 500gb hard drive bundle is fine, you might want to buy a SSD (solid state drive) for your os and most used programs or games, speeds it up like **** off a shovel!

8Gb of ram is fairly cheap nowadays so if you can you should, but 4gb is totally fine for gaming.

Any optical drive will do providing it is SATA

GO for the thermalright silver arrow, best air cooler on the market! however failing that you can also go to this:

things i would change in your build would be
gpu to gtx 570
psu to xfx 750w/850w
ssd to crucial m4 64gb
:)
missing a monitor though

Needs tweaking... someone showed me this cool ram, pretty cool guy...

I'm not doing it all for him ;)
XFX are a bit more dollar, lepa b series is pretty top notch from reviews.

With all due respect, if you are quite new to this, should you be building your first gaming pc? I know you don't get as much for your money, but maybe get a pre-built one from overclockers?

I totally agree with this statement. Again, no dis respect. However, your knowledge is clearly very minimal and judging by your age and general grammar. I think playing with £1000 worth of kit may just be a bit over your head.

Look at the pre built systems on overclockers. They come right to your door and all you do is plug it in and start playing on it. No hassle, no fuss, no worries.

for £1000 you will get a very good PC that will max 90% of games on the market.

As mentioned. DO NOT PAY FOR ANTI-VIRUS! It's a con!!! Avast and MSE are the best in the business and FREE.

Oh and for a budget of £1000 I certainly wouldn't be speccing an AMD system. So ignore that other forum.

And is i said i am not going to be putting it together a local shop will be doing to for me.

Murry could you take anti-virus off please

i put my first pc together earlier this year, it's a lot of fun tbh, you get to learn about stuff and it makes it easier if something goes wrong to figure out what happened.

Also i trust myself more than somone else, I take my time with it and treat it right.

There was 12 year old only other day who built his own pc, he posted some pics i think.. of his new pc :) might look bit scary but its not, everything clicks into place and most of time only 1 place stuff can go,
