Right bought an SSD agility 3 Right off the starting line it was a headache the drive had detection problems managed to install windows... And had my fingers crossed that it would start working (yes all settings were right) but instead the drive completely threw in the towel the drive failed to ever be detected again (bios)... Now I bought this from a local retail not OCUK lol can I return the drive a get a replacement product there and then (NOT ocz SSD but a brand of similar price and not as crap e.g. Crucial M4 heard good things about it from a friend) I know the retailers will push just to give me another exact replacement product which I don't want... I have been shaken by OCZ and never want there SSD drives again been too much of an headache and not being able to power or OC my rig for 2 weeks from build complete has frakley ticked me off (before anyone says i tried it in another rig and a laptop dead as a door mat)... Will I get a replacement alternative product there and then? Also anyone else been plagued by similar problems? I had ram in the past from OCZ and it never ever ran at the advertised speeds :-/... The only other OCZ product I have in my machine is the PSU lol :-/ I know which me luck that don't throw in the towel although it's been pretty good yet lol...

mine went caput after 5 days of use... currently in the postal system back to overclockers...

I'm going for the crucial m4 now so all should be good :)

I've been hearing the Crucial m4 may be a bit slower, but it is the most reliable of all the SSDs... True?

Might be worth trying to get that instead of a direct replacement Geekazoid

I'd get a Crucial if you can, if it's a fairly recent purchase they should be able to help you out.
The Crucial drives are faster in the real world than the Sandforce drives IMO, they're also unaffected by the firmware bugs and, again IMO, second in reliability only to Intel.

lol walloftextmuch ?

There is a bug in OCZ drives that I reported to OCZ but was ignored
Dont know if its the same issue I had but here were my symptoms

Drive was working ok for a few days then had an error , restored an acronis
image onto it and the PC would not complete POST, it gets to finding the
drive and then just stops .. forever

I discovered that in AHCI mode the drive wont not post, I switched to IDE
and the PC boots and runs fine , what I discovered was that if the drive allignment gets corrupted it stops the PC posting for some weird reason.....

just replaced my ocz vertex 2 60gb with a intel 320 120gb my vertex was ok although i have taken it to my local computer shop to change for the larger intel drive although i assumed it was because i was running low on space that i was getting issues with drive perhaps not ,any way looks like a good choice the crucial drives were recommended to me at the shop but i dont have sata 3 compatbility fully with the x58 mob so i bought the best sata 2 ssd the intel 320 ,reliability is just as important as speed in my view .no point shelling out buck if failing a year down the line .

crucial M4 is as fast or faster than ocz vertex/agility 3.
it isn't about sequence speed for ssd.
in daily practice, M4 is the better choice.

Shame the Intel 510 is more expensive :(.

Quote I read online:

If you want the best balance of performance and predictable operation, Intel's SSD 510 is still the right choice from my perspective. If you want the absolute fastest and are willing to deal with the small chance that you could also fall victim to this issue, the SF-2281 drives continue to be very attractive. I've deployed a Vertex 3 in my personal system for long term testing to see what living with one of these drives is like and so far the experience has been good.

It's funny how little the recommendations have changed over the years. Intel still offers a good balance of performance and reliability, however if you're willing to take a risk on the reliability front you can get better value elsewhere.

I imagine its like most things and you only hear the bad story's. I've got 2 agility 3 drives In raid 0 and excludeing the the buggy firmware (updated now) that came on them I've not had any issues

Right ok an update sent the drive in (to X retailers which I can't mention due to rules) I said to them the drive had detection problems then completely died they took the drive to the back and then gentleman come to the front and said the drive is ok and is being detected I told him did he plug it into a Sata 3 6gb intel socket he said no... I then told him the drive isn't working it's having detection problems he said have I updated my bios cheeky bugger I told him I been building pc for years and know when something is knackered... He said he take the drive in for further testing (interment problem) I'm really ticked off as I know the drive is knackered yet they delaying the build more I wanna start testing for stability and OCing my system... I'm thinking of going back tomorrow being a little more assertive and demanding either cash or another drive replacement not OCZ? How can I fight my case for return?

I have had issues with OZC drives not booting etc, seems very common. I will try crucial in future as they seem more reliable. Theres little worse than turning on your pc etc to get something urgent done and finding a 'OS not present' or similar message

Had an 64gb OCZ agility 3 for two days. All sorts of problems. It went back under RMA and retailer confirmed failures. OCZ site no help. Replaced with a 96gb Kingston 100V+. Slower but it works !

Will never buy an OCZ ssd again.

Haha, amen to that. Or in my case, write up two 800 word essays in for the day after, play L4D to ease off, have graphics card melt. FUUUUU

Not hard drive related but you get my point.
