Managed to get into my EA account for support chat.

And I got my veteran status up to 8, I only own bfbc 2 as well

Have also signed up for the newsletter.

So are people just spamming the battlefield 3 page where it checks to see if your worthy enough then

or do you just get an email at some point?

Downloaded something called AutoHotKey.
In the cfg file I just did things like

a::b
z::y
etc

Works perfectly, I haven't been able to change my m1/m2 buttons though. So nearly all sorted!

If you're a 1 or 8 vet doesn't matter, if you're on the newsletter you'll randomly get an email. Rumour has it they've finished with alpha invites though...

@ the guys playing in the Alpha, what's your honest opinion on the game play?

For me I hate it and it's a game I won't be buying

Funny you mention that, because Red Faction Guerilla had some of the best non-scripted, massive scale destruction in any game I've seen to date. It put the destruction in BC2 to shame imho.

From the videos the game looks pretty arcadey. I cant decide if its a long way from BF2 exactly, I think its probably inevitable it will be as Bf2 was a unique game

Arcadey with deeper elements is hard to make. Metro doesnt compare to the Oman demo as its entirely less open but is it karkand-ish? The whole bomb thing is very bc2 like & its not whack a mole flag cap style? No tanks for starters

I would not go that far, its diffrent yes, but its the alpha stage things need to be put in taken out etc remember its not the full game.

The feedback we give will help to shape it, I have reported a fair number of things in the survey that i think need sorting out,

Without saying to much i think it can become great, please just dont think its going to be BF2 HD as its not,

Dice randomly selected people who allegedly met certain criteria (although like many things dice do, i suspect it was pulled out of a hat), although they said vet and newsletter would help they apparently made no difference what so ever. I know people who are Level 1 vet having on only played BFBC2 and who also never signed up to the newsletter who were invited.

the peoples accounts selected were entered onto the database which was then cross referenced during the signup process. Anyone getting the "sorry you don't meet the criteria" can do nothing about it until they are selected at random and entered into the database. Apparently every account that was entered was also emailed with information as to what to do but again this may/may not be the case although Dice are adamant that they did and advise people to check spam folders.

Allegedly EA live support say Alpha handouts are now complete don't know if any more will be forth coming, however some people are saying there may be more next week. its finished by the 01.08.2011 regardless.

Its only a server back end tech stress test by all accounts which is why more or less all destruction is off and lots of client config settings are absent.

Thx I am about to test it out, much to the chargrin of those who are whinning about not getting a key on various forums. Also I beta tested BF heroes and have played bf1942 + expansions, BF2 and BFBC2. BF2 and mods is probably my most played game.

What?

You honestly believe that because they are under NDA means that they cannot share anything with a community? Sure if they was to look at the code and post it around then I can see a problem but a few screenshots and videos wont hurt DICE? It'll probably help them as it's showing how good the game looks in its ALPHA stages.

Sounds great? I don't get it if you want to run around in the open maccing out kills go play a game that suits that.

Nah the reason is below. Tactical lol, how can it be tactical when the enemy can spot and see you through all objects in the game world.
