Amy Winehouse found dead

I am in the only position to decide who is worthy of my respect and who is not.

I am not glad she is dead, I don't care enough about her to care either way. I am ambivalent about the woman to be honest, however I do not feel that people should be vilified for stating their feelings, either positive or negative simply because someone had died.

If you think that she deserves your respect then that is fine, we simply have different criteria by which we infer respect and recognition.

I agree with what you've said but I'll add an observation if you may allow; it may be unfair comparison but in refusing to recognise her death would you also lets say walk past her lying dead in the street without a blink?

I have the same criticisms as you, but it is not a bad thing to hold humanity and humility for even those you disagree with.

Capiche?

Like i said before its got nothing to do with showing her respect. Its just common decency, a young woman had DIED...

On the topic of here being worthy of respect or not, im not in the position to decide. Im not a fan so dont know her history apart from she was a druggy and a singer. I dont know how she was as a person, daughter, sister etc what charity works she's done etc but of coarse you must have done a lot research into her character to paint her with that brush.

Lol. You mean most of the generic sounding, copycat singers on x factor doing nothing original. Riiight.

Yes i agree with you however she had no talent, couldn't sing even with those videos you linked. Just sounds like some croaky broad in a pub!. Atleast with xfactor there were a range of singers with amazing voices, whereas amy crackhouse used to be on the radio daily killing tunes.

Not heard from her in a while so not surprised it eventually ramped up to this.

She was funny though, one of the best buzzcocks episodes but boded as a warning what was going to come.

You wouldn't say it about the kids in Norway. Who knows some of them could have been thieves/druggies but the fact you didn't know is reason enough not to slate them?

Except it's completely different. They died because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Wino died because she liked abusing her body with substances that she was 100% aware could kill her at any moment.

Those who live by the sword etc.

Zero sympathy, though perhaps some for her parents as they have to live with this.

Bit of a shame, but life goes on as they say.

+1

Winehouse = self-inflicted death through what is essentially partying
Norwegian kids = gunned down by a psycho while at a summer camp

Yeah..totally the same.

No offence but your knowledge of music is clearly very limited. It's a shame that drivel like X Factor influences peoples perspectives like this.

Oh man, she's hilarious! I'd love to see her singing live before she kicks it.

My music range is actually NEW AGE, ROMANTICA and CLASSICAL with a side order of Hard Dance. You don't know anything about my knowledge ;), I hardly ever watch Xfactor but i'm glad the sarcasm is working on some people!

Of course she could sing, she wouldn't have been invited in her early days to prestigious events like the north sea jazz festival or the jazz cafe if she couldn't. It's a style which you either get or you don't. Her sound is unique and has influenced many singers since. There may be more technically brilliant voices on the x factor, but people want memorable voices, voices with character, not a dime a dozen rock or soul singing replica. Amy Winehouse also wrote most of her songs, and plays guitar too, so to say she has no talent, well, laughable really.

Just saw this on BBC.

Can't say I care even slightly. Tbh I'm more annoyed that its going to give even more weight to the ridiculous 'zomg 27' theory. She's an excellent poster girl for what being an excessive drinker/drug user leads to which is going to be more effective than any random campaign against them.

Get off your high horse! Good singing is good singing, bad singing is bad singing. Good singers CAN be found on Xfactor, just like bad singer can.

No offence but your knowledge of talents, abilities and how they can be found anywhere, seems very limited.

You seem somewhat narrow minded
