Amy Winehouse found dead

Exactly how I see it.

Ryan Dunn got a thread of RIPs for getting drunk and killing his best mate while speeding, Amy Winehouse gets a thread of people saying they're glad she's dead despite hurting no one but herself. Hard to fathom.

Indeed.

I'm so glad I'm educated and intelligent enough to see the bigger picture.

Ryan Dunn was more deserving of what happened, both of these headline names did it to themselves though.
There are far more people on the planet who should receive our sympathy.

it's all down to appearance. musicians have abused drugs for years and for the most part the general public turn a blind eye. the difference for her is the before/after pictures.....

Do you activly divide your sympathy up on a weekly basis?

If i lost my hand in an accident would you feel sympathy for me only until you heard of someone who lost an arm?

I dont get this "deserving of sympathy" nonsense. You either feel it or you dont.

Depends what you were doing to lose the hand, were you continuously putting near a high rpm spinning blade for the high that it provided?

Addicts don't want sympathy they want their fix. Nothing will stand in their way.

If you offer it then they really don't care. Only in sobriety will the addict appreciate that you were there for them and sympathetic to the addiction

Possibly I wouldn't have cared, if I lived each day smacked out my face then it wouldn't really be a big deal. I obviously would have no care for friends or family, so whatever happened, including vomit choking death, it's all good.

Should have been Pete Doherty instead. At least she had a couple of decent albums before turning crack ho.

I don't base creativity and talent on whether someone does drugs...I couldn't care less.

Basing one's Taste or judgement on "Art" or "Genuis" on drug use is foolish at best.

If she had of drunk herself to death then this is different than injecting brown?

BS

Huh? That's not what I said at all. I didn't comment on whether drug use is an indictment on a person's talent or creativity. I said that a persons's drug use may lead to an unsurprising drug related death, and that sympathy may therefore be limited.

So you accept that the person is poweless over their addiction?

Thats progress.

I'd rather she wasn't dead.

I'm indifferent. I didn't like her music, so I don't mourn the loss on that front. I'm also a bit too cynical to feign mourning on the basis that "any death is sad", and the media machine has rendered me more than slightly averse to large outpourings of grief about people that none of us know. I'm not in the least bit surprised that she's dead. That's about it.
